?/?/? Day 1020 - last day - Report Log Deepspace Earth Exploration Team Fleet “Chalcedony 1-47”,
Objective - Locate origin of alien vessel spotted in planet sector “Crystal Pools”. Negotiate flight relations, use of force fully permitted. Knowledge exchange limitations to be determined by diplomatic team after completing first objective phase.
Mission Overview - An alien craft described as “Pink, complex, and unsymetrical” attacked a colony planet and fled. Debris of the same craft was later found as a few unsalvageable parts in deep space. Strange solar wind patterns in the area suggest that a strong, unexplainable gravitational force was present in the area recently. No alian pilot was found.
Log highlights.
>Day 1, we have lift off!
>Day 7, comb over of the surrounding crystal pools area has brought up nothing, we are now preparing for deepspace travel into the direction the alian vessel fled.
>Day 862, after years of navigating dead space in and out of stasis and moving at light speed we have located a planet that was home to an -now extinct- unfamiliar bipedal beastclan. They did not posses space faring tech beyond satellites. However, the tech of their factories match our unknown alian ships. Determining that the two have had relations. Our computers and language teams are working on establishing a way to deciphere their written and digital text docs.
>Day 870, We have determined that shortly after this extinct beastclan had a major technological achievement (what it was we don't know) their energy plants started exploding, wiping out whole cities and dooming the rest of their population to the radiation exposure that lead to their extinction. Nothing on our alian race was found. Note: T45 Trini Zyguard, a newer member of the tech team of Chalcedony 13, accidentally set off a communication device from the extinct race. The guard (C7 G13 Trac Balve)nearby destroyed it out of fear of the alian race we are searching for.
>Day 871, Chalcedony 32-40 came in range of an alian ship that matches the description of our crystal pools attacker. Upon opening hailing signals it fled. Our ships lost it, all ship captians are baffled and say it 'just dissappeared'. We are now heading into the direction the new craft fled.
>Day 886, We suddenly expericed major gravitational forces out of no where that threatened to tear the fleet apart. One of our ships, Chalcedony 17, dissappeared in the chaos. There are no debris, no energy signitures, no signal. They just. Dissappeared.
>Day 889, We lost Chalcedony 39 and 19. Again they dissappeared in a strange gravitational storm. The science and technology teams are working on a way to gather data of these storms to try and stop this from happening.
>Day 893, Another gravity storm. Chalcedony 13, 25, 29 and 41 are gone. The science and technology teams are yet to determine the cause.
>Day 897, Gravity storm. 6, 11, 30, 39, 40, and 46 are gone. Nothing new from science and technology.
>Day 900, just when we thought it was a pattern of 4 days it changes. Chalcedony 2, the fleets stasis chambers, is gone. We will never see home again.
>Day 909, 22, 26, and 47 are gone. Gravity storm. We are now a fleet of 30.
>Day 913, 9 and 33 have been lost in a gravity storm.
>Day 917, 45 is gone.
>Day 918, 44 is gone.
>Day 920, What remains of the science and technology team have determined that these gravity storms are artificial wormholes, a technology speculated by our engeneers back home but mostly accepted as fantasy. Many of them suspect that if we willingly follow the wormholes pull instead of fighting it we will be reunited with the rest of the fleet. Naturally many are critical of this proposed plan.
>Day 922, We lost Chalcedony 8 to a gravity storm slash wormhole. 16 went into it willingly.
>Day 925, A decision has been made, some of the crew is splintering off and Chalcedony 3, 13, and 43 will be going to a nearby habitable planet and try their chances as colonists to hopefully live out the rest of their days peacefully. The rest of us, a fleet of 21, are going to see where the wormhole goes. Hopefully the alien civilization because C3 is our major food generation ship. ...I look forward to writing to you again, log.
>Day 929, We all passed out after entering whats now definitely an artificial wormhole. We awoke intact and with the missing fleet! However, We are also now surrounded by the alians we where seeking - they have placed all Chalcedony ships in their own individual force feild containment. We can still communicate, the ones who have been here the longest report that they have been supplied with food and lifesupport but have not been able to establish any common ground with the alian species.
>Day 935, The colonist ships have joined us. We are now all here contained by the alians pink bubbles.
>Day 941, We've all, well mostly, agreed that we are being studied but are in no real danger as nothing but bot deliverys have entered our ship containments. I've issued that we all take it easy for now unless the aliens habits change since this has been stressful for all of us.
>Day 950, We sent back physical copies of our language introduction with one of the alian supply bots in hopes they'll attempt communication.
>Day 986, Chalcedony 7 grew agitated and starting giving off aggressive hails to an alian ship as they passed by. To all our confusion they did the same then opened a communication link. I greeted by alians who are very hard for even our skydancers to read with striking pink eyes. They are four limbed with wings and tails... like us. Dispite the language material we sent them it seems they have only mastered a monotone 'Hello' and 'Why'.
>Day 989, It seems we had a very simple yet overlooked communication problem. Our friendly hailing signals translate to them as extremely agressive and war declaring. Our agressive signals translate as overly friendly to their systems. Vise versa to us. The ship that attacked the crystal pools was a exploration that acted agressivly because it misunderstood the friendly signal the locals had sent them. I hope we can get a fresh start with them dispite our rough start. They call themselves Fae and I will continue to refer to them as such.
>Day 996, The Fae are so, interesting. We are the first other space faring species they have met. Turns our their voices are monotone purposefully and they show emotion through the frills on their head instead. Dare I say they possess a new element. They call it arcane, and it is strange and enticing - I can't tell you more than that, they are keeping pretty hush about it. And their technology - amazingly they can naturally survive in a vaccum much better than us so they have been able to focus on other things - like artificial wormholes. We could benifit greatly by welcoming them as fellow dragons and adding them to the pillar. I just need to get them to trust us first.
>Day 1020, The Fae have long accepted our misunderstandings and have grown to trust us enough to be open to trade with us! It's not an unity- not even a alliance- or friendship! But its a start. Today we will be returning home with a diplomatic team of their own who will create a wormholes for us to travel in. Effectively turning a 900 lightyear trip into an instant. Teleportation. I hope Sornieth is well, because today fantasy becomes reality.
