This hatchery is still a WIP but you can post/tag/whatever if you're interested~
This is a very text-heavy thread. Use the links at the top if you want to skip to a specific section.
Overview
I would adore it if you'd keep some of the lore from my Clan and integrate it into your new dragon's history. If you're buying an adult dragon, there will usually be more lore directly tied to my Clan. Of course you don't have to keep anything, but I'd gladly work with you to make a cool way to incorporate my lore and yours :)
Mission statement
My goal is to spread lore, encourage storytelling, and create collaborations between my Clan and yours. I'd rather make a new friend and get some awesome lore integrated with children of my characters than make money. I am seeking forever homes for dragons above anything else. I will happily reduce price if you're willing to keep a dragon/are super excited to adopt them.
Rules
- If you decide you don't want a dragon, message me and you can return it. If it's within the first month, I'll pay you back 1/2 the amount you paid. If not, I just ask you return them to me so I can find a new home for them.
- If you want to change a major part of my lore, please let me know. You're your own person, of course, but I'd like to know if my babies are going wildly away from the canon lore.
- I will accept treasure or gems as long as they're worth the same amount.
- I will hold dragons for up to a month if needed (I've got room, usually)
- I expect at least 50% of the payment up front, but I'm fine with giving you up to two weeks to get the rest.
The Basics of Draca's Lore
There's a lot of text here, don't feel obligated to read it all!
Clan Dynamics + Law
Aquria: The voice of Reason. Aquria is seen as a semi-supernatural being, blessed by the Tidelord. Bakash, her lover, is the lorekeeper. He is respected far and wide for being intelligent and fair and utterly unbiased (if a bit cold.) He is often called to other Clans to settle disputes, leaving Aquria to be the voice of reason and law. She is protective of her dragons (her Clan is her charge) and insists upon respect. Aquria is willing to put her neck on the line for her Clan since they have to be good enough for not only her, Bakash, and Hydero to accept, but the semi-sentient Lair's magical barrier will only let worthy dragons through. Aquria keeps her dragons in line with her reputation and respect rather than fear, and expects dragons to follow her moral code. Dragons who don't follow her rules are given worse jobs, and worse offenses lead to exile. She and Bakash are the only dragons that can execute punishment, but Hydero is usually seen as the tiebreaker should the two butt heads.LAWS
- Do not kill another Aqurian. If you have a grievance, talk to Aquria.
- Do not kidnap or abuse any sentient creature, Dragon or no.
- Never trust a Harpy. Never bring one near the Lair, or your Clanmates. Disengage from any Harpy interaction as swiftly as possible.
- What items are legal/illegal is defined by how it was obtained; illegal contraband includes parts of sentient creatures, dark magic, items enchanted with souls, items that break the laws of allied Clans, etc.
- Do not disobey your superior when given a direct order, unless lives are at stake.
- You are not to judge or mistreat any dragon for how they choose to love, or who, so long as all parties involved are aware and consent to the situation.
Relationships. Aquria has been very firm that all relationship models are tolerated. The Aqurians have two polyamorous relationships among them, and several of the characters in the Clan choose to mate simply for the opportunity to raise children on their own. Thus, the Aqurians have very strange ideas of what's "normal," and know very very few couples that have mated monogamously for life. They fawn over couples that do, unable to comprehend such lifelong dedication and absolute love that means you'd promise yourself to them and only them forever.
Jobs and duties.
There are a variety of things to do; Aquria expects every dragon to contribute somehow. Even dragons without official employ are expected to do small jobs or watch the hatchlings. "Official" jobs mean getting paid a small sum each month, but usually dragons are encouraged to do something they're passionate about so they don't find their day-to-day tedious. Dragons who ply a trade can, of course, make money off of buying and selling within and without the Clan, but room and board are covered for all Aqurians. If a certain job isn't currently being done, it's put on the group of dragons who don't have official/consistent jobs, and are done on a rotating schedule.
More Official Employments
- Flight Team: Every Flight Team dragon except for Drea has an Obsidian primary. These dragons are the fastest and best fliers in the Clan, and are tasked with deliveries, escorting ambassadors/ambassador work, exploration, and rescue missions. Drea was the first to join the Aqurians and thus is the leader of the Flight Team. The Flight Team is very well respected, and are seen as the second tier down from Aquria and her family.
- Ambassadors: Many of the dragons in the Clan are assigned to maintain relations with other Clans and the BeastClans. There are many different breeds, backgrounds, personalities, and appearances among Ambassadors.
- Forgeworkers: The forgework of Aqurians is widely respected; weapons and armor and trinkets are made with the most skill and dedication of any Clan in the region, and are often enchanted by the many magic-workers of the Clan. Alongside traditional fire-forging, Aqurians have developed a technique where water is heated to hotter than boiling and then blasted so violently against the metal that the metal is shaped into the correct form.
- Water Warriors: There are very few dragons whose only job is to be fighters. However, this small team is called the Water Warriors, since 1) they all use codenames based on water when on the battlefield and 2) they all share blue coloration. While they earn respect close to the Flight Team, they're seen as a bit more brutish and blunt, and are much less noble.
- Scientists: Meliadoul the alchemist, Citrus and Basilio the inventors, and Nora the astrologist compose most of the Clan's scientific motivation and brainpower. While the Clan respects the advancements that come from their work, there's no universal respect for them in the way Fliers have.
- Healers, Herbalists, and Botanists: There are only a few dragons dedicated to healing, but all those involved in it are also closely tied to the greenhouse. The Clan grows its own herbs and usually relies on them rather than scientific medicine to heal dragons.
Dynamics and respect. It became tradition during the Harpy War to wear tokens taken from the bodies of Harpies to show your strength; a headdress was the highest honor, and only could be worn by the best Aqurian warriors. (Birdskull apparel.) However, that kind of respect is mostly based on physical prowess; dragons who accomplished great things receive the highest honors and reverence. Thus, it broadly ranks; Aquria and her family, the Fliers, the Ambassadors, the Water Warriors, the Forgeworkers, and then non-Clan dragons with reputations/well known deeds, and then the general rest.
"Hm? What's that? Fight Club? What Fight Club? How did you hear about that?... Well, since you know about it already... you want in?" In the Clan, there is a well hidden group. They slip off into the underbelly of the Lair on a certain night every month, careful to tread quietly. Aquria doesn't know about this, and it has to stay that way--it's one of the few activities considered illegal. Among the Fight Club, there's betting, venting of anger, and genuine honing of battle skills; but it's bloody, and painful, and the only rule is no permanent damage. Some dragons will have descriptions at the end of their bios mentioning what they might do if there somehow was a Fight Club.
History + The Lair
The history of the Aqurians isn't fully developed; I'm still revamping the lore. However, there is currently one unmovable event: The Harpy War.
In the distance, along the Ashfall Waste and the Shifting Expanse, a group of Harpies was growing restless. They were itching for war, and for the resources to grow their ranks. They needed food, and the easiest place to get it was the Sea of a Thousand Currents. They began pillaging the water, driving Clans out of their homes and depleting the sea's population. Aquria took notice, and called for action; she tried to speak with them logically, but her patrol was ambushed. Aquria took a large wound across her shoulder protecting Drea from the Harpies. From then on, it was war.
The war took many lives. Dragons were ambushed during attempts to trade and make peace with other Clans, their resources were cut off, and tensions among the Clan only rose as fear of the Beastclans skyrocketed. Aquria demanded the Aqurians keep calm and not instigate violence with any other Beastclan, but she also refused to let any new Beastclanners stay in the Lair. As the war grew bloodier, there was a skirmish midway between the territories. Many of Aquria's children perished and fell into the waves, only to sink into the deep and never rise. Aquria decided that it was time to end this nonsense. She assembled an ambush group who would leave at sunrise--but as they went to take off, they were hit with a massive wave of Harpies, lead by the Harpy General herself. Aquria went one-on-one with the General. She was slashed out of the sky, a massive cut across her eye blocking most of her vision. The sky was raining blood, and as the sand turned pink, Hydero came. He rocketed out of the sky in full armor, tearing into the Harpy General before she could even scream. Confused, the troops began to scatter and break formation, allowing the other dragons to slice through their ranks. Hydero landed next to Aquria, bowing his head. She felt the pull, the pressure, from back when she discovered the Lair. Heaving herself off the sand, she mimicked the gesture. Hydero was the product of her life force and the Lair's magic, sent to protect and love her as she had so gently loved the Lair and her Clan. From that day forward, there has been calm; minor skirmishes fade away under the shadow of the Harpy War.
Other Clans
Aqurians always err on the friendly side, and opt for caution over anything else. They send ambassadors once or twice a year to check in on their allies, and expect to host ambassadors equally as often.
(@/Kuhli) Clan Khuna is the Aqurian's oldest ally. Their friendship is not based on any particular encounter or treaty, but merely on the alignment of their values and desires. Aquria respects their leader, Irsul, very deeply and admires her ability as a leader.
(@/cryptvokeeper) Prisma is one of the Aqurian's favorite Clans. They have a strong relationship, and have sent diplomats to visit Prisma with the intent of scholarly pursuits.
(@/Eaglerider) A certain Fire Clan nestled among the Black Sand Annex is on unsure footing with the Aqurians. While they have a peace treaty that ensures trade and diplomacy for both sides, an Aqurian diplomat was possessed by an evil artifact and made quite a stir. The relationship is strained but positive.
(@/shadowrwarrior) The Aqurians have a strong dislike for this nomadic Plague clan, who stumbled close to their territory once a long time ago. An Aqurian joined their ranks, and one of theirs defected to the Aqurians, so there was never any outright conflict, but there's a heavy tension between the two Clans.
(@/photoshutterbug) The Hidden Moon Clan is one of the Aqurian's worst enemies. They discovered the Aqurians were harboring convicts and kidnapped Drea in an attempt to teach the Aqurians a lesson. A lengthy search-and-rescue was executed, but the Hidden Moon Clan is still widely hated among the Aqurians.
(@/lilMama) The Clan Of Rotting Stars is also an enemy of the Aqurians. They are the SECOND Clan to have kidnapped Drea and her companions in an attempt to retaliate against criminals. However, Drea and her crew only escaped by allowing Callisto to sustain heavy revenge-wounds and then fleeing.
Thanks to user Osiem for the decorations I'm incorporating! I got permission to use these for my hatchery, but these decorations should remain non-profit use ONLY.
