They are born during the long polar nights at the planet's poles. The brighter their wings are, the stronger their star-reading is. Those born farther from the poles or outside of mating season have black or near-black wings. [size=4][b]Physical Attributes[/b][/size] Auroras come in any breed of dragon, and are recognized by their mottled hide flecked with shiny star-like scales (much like a miniature gembond) and colourful wings, mimicking the appearance of the lights they are born under. Their wings can be used to measure an ability known as "star-reading", which is stronger in those with brighter wings. Heat radiates from their runes, which keeps them warm and active in their snowy natural homes. [indent][size=3][b]Star-Reading[/b][/size] Star-reading is, in a sense, predicting the future. Dragons who are strong in this skill can read the Aurora Borealis/Australis lights to get warnings, predictions, and even -- though rarely -- prophecies. Strong star-readers can also read stellar scintillation: commonly known as the twinkling of stars.[/indent] [size=4][b]Social[/b][/size] These dragons tend to be mellowed versions of their born breed, and enjoy small tightly knit communities. They work well together, and take care of each other, opting to better a group rather than themselves. While they have no set leaders, those with brighter wings are highly respected, and often are sought for guidance from other members of a clan. [size=4][b]Lairs[/b][/size] Depending on the breed, their homes range from glacial caves to igloos to flat out holes in the ground. If an Aurora moves into a mixed-element lair outside the Snowsquall Tundra, it will choose the coolest area possible to reside in, or at the very least, the darkest. Glowing trinkets and bioluminescent creatures or plants decorating its walls will make it feel right at home wherever it is. [size=4][b]Tactics[/b][/size] It would be unwise to fight one of these dragons at night, since on top of their born breed's skills, they have excellent vision in the dark. Many tend to use erratic movements, swinging their brightly coloured wings and glowing claws around to confuse their enemy as they fight, darting back and forth, in and around shadows.
