This is not meant to be a bash on any niche hatcheries out there. There is a market on this site for everything! But as I looked through various (beautiful) hatcheries, I noticed a lack of that "random chance" I personally love. This hatchery is a response to that lost market! All of my pairs have the potential to make beautiful offspring as well as not so pretty ones. It's all about the surprise; you never know what you're gonna get! I also want to experiment with genes and combinations that are less than "desirable." Under the right conditions, these genes can look amazing and really compliment a dragon! As for my pair names, well... The whole point of this place is controlled chaos, so that's my goal! Maybe I can get a few laughs along the way.[/indent] [font=Century Gothic][size=5] [b]One lair's fodder is another lair's-... uh...[/b] [indent][font=Century Gothic][size=4]Eh, you get it! One thing I hope to do with this hatchery is look closer at the idea of the [b]Value[/b] of a dragon vs. the [b]Price[/b]. I find people tend to under-value their beautiful dragons simply because the current market says they should. But it's all just opinion, right? A dragon someone might find "ugly," someone else could [i]adore[/i]. By having pairs with a very wide range of possible outcomes, my hope is to explore how to value dragons based on more than just what the market dictates. The prices for my offspring will be based on not only its overall appeal, but the rarity of that outcome within all the possibilities from that pair. [/indent] [br][font=Century Gothic][size=5][b]But what about the fodder?[/b] [indent][font=Century Gothic][size=4]This hatchery will also break the mold by adding an interesting "feature." We all want our dragons to find good homes, but it's not always possible. With all of the beautiful possibilities from these pairs, there are bound to be some offspring that... aren't so pretty. So instead of pretending all of my dragons are precious, beautiful snowflakes, I'm going to cut-out the middle-man (aka, AH limbo)! Offspring that don't fit my standards for the pair will be labeled as Fodder and sold at fodder prices. These dragons will have outcomes that are "undesirable," dragons that I [i]know[/i] won't sell well.[/indent] [br][font=Century Gothic][size=5][b]On that note... [/b] [indent][font=Century Gothic][size=4]What if you feel like a specific dragon should actually be worth more than what I valued it as? What if you feel like getting a specific dragon is "too good to be true" at the price I set? Well it's your lucky day, you can get it for that lower-than-expected price! But if you really do feel I'm under-valuing a dragon you are very interested in, consider actually paying the price that [i]you[/i] value it at. Gestures like that would truly make this hatchery, and what I'm trying to accomplish with it, worthwhile! If you don't want to pay extra, that's perfectly fine too! If nothing else, please let me know if you feel I have under-valued a dragon you personally find beautiful. It would help me a lot in the future, and it's just cool to know! [/indent][/font]
