They communicate by whipping, waving, and wagging their tails. Another way they communicate is through pheromones and low pitched hisses, clicks, and grumbles. Male skinks are very territorial of other males, but will tolerate younglings or females. Females tend to have their broods in groups, taking turns to care for the eggs and hatchlings. Never is an egg or youngling left unattended. Female skinks will often eat any unhatched eggs. Despite males exhibiting territorial behavior, it is a clear matriarch. A lower ranking female may only travel to find a mate. This is the one major rule of the dominate female. A lounge of bogskinks will include only one adult male, juvenile males leave the territory in search of their own once of a certain age or when they are mature enough. The Matriarch of the lounge will have full access to the male- whose role is dictated by her as well. Depending on her personality (and sometimes mood) a male may be pampered and loved. Another Matriarch may not treat her mate with such gentleness, regardless of her treatment of him, he is forced to do her bidding. In the case of a male not abiding by his mistress’s whims, she will attack him and upon her command- the rest of the lounge will also join in. If the bog survives, he will immediately be exiled. However, the social structures and status of the bogskinks is entirely set up depending on the matriarch’s own desires. These lizards have developed runes that adorn their bodies. This is due to many dergs practicing their birth flight’s magic- specializing in runes. They became so encompassed by the magic that they started exhibiting physical traits representing their new-found glory. They are called RuneSkinks. Runes are adept in any magic dependent on runes, sigils, or symbols. These can occur in any flight and are typically drawn to magic that is the element of birth. Arcane RuneSkinks are by far the most powerful and can be proficient in any element of magic and are not limited to just runes, sigils, or symbols. RuneSkinks are completely obsessed with their magic. While many practice alchemy and other such practices, they are all consumed by their hunger of magic, and runes are their specialty. They are devoted to it. It is equally as important as their deities. [/b] [/color][/right]
