Tigersquid Hatchery is a hatchery shared between @Luckysquid, and her fiance, @Thatgermangirl. When I first joined Flight Rising, a few months after her, neither of us took dragon breeding very seriously, and thus our pairs were born from lore and love. It's our lore that has woven them together to produce offspring, and it's this lore that has us bringing them to you! We both love to write, and Luckysquid has a blast drawing gijinkas for various dragons, and so we've combined our love into this hatchery. You may of course discard any lore if you wish to purchase a dragon for aesthetics alone, buy some personalized lore from one of us, or let your new dragon's origins inspire your own writings~! Really, we're pretty relaxed. We just like to breed dragons for fun, write lore, and ferry out babies so we can do it all over again~!

Pale gold eyes are bright in their shadowed sockets, turned to the sun and the stars that hover overhead where his mind wanders. In his mind he sees other worlds and realms, gazing into the hearts of distant planets where sleeping beasts lie at their cores, or at suns where ribbons of light turn to glimmering figures of dust and crystal like angels in the black void that is space. He sees everything and nothing, unable to know for sure if the dreams his waking mind perceives are real or just the delusions of a crippled martyr, but there must be some truth to visions he sees for when the mysterious pearlcatcher showers her fragmented features, the Abiding Boneyard gives birth to glimmering lights.
She comes to him like an angel, glowing like starlight with wings and parts of her body shining like stained glass. Everything about her is surreal, and only with her touch does the Eastern Martyr know real peace. She never speaks, so he doesn’t know her name, but their children are much like her. They are wisps in the desert, their skin glowing in the night, little more than figments of the imagination to those they do not wish to show themselves to. They are often reclusive, hiding on the edge of wandering dragon’s perception, watching and learning as they battle an innate curiosity, but those that do reveal themselves are too beautiful to be real. Their presence in the desert has created myths and folk stories, and some believe that it is impossible to know these wisps’ true appearance, for it changes in each dragon’s eyes to suit the desires of the onlooker. They possess many talents, but they’re known for their ability to glide silently, to teleport, and the ability to turn invisible when exposed to the light of the moon or sun.

Orison is a firm father, leading very much by example on how his children should carry themselves and interact with other dragons. And while not all of their children follow his path into the verbal maze of diplomatic talks and trade many find they are gifted with a silver tongue for quick talking and even explaining difficult ideas in easy to grasp terms. Any of the children who show exceptional magical progress take after their mother, Lorna, who acts as the magical liaison with allied clans. She makes sure all her children have at least the basics of magical understanding, even those that show no promise, and encourages those with greater abilities to further in their studies.

Known amongst their territory as the Master and Mistress, any children from this pair of land and business owners will be raised with a keen understanding of right and wrong, and how to get around those stuck within that black and white ideology. Those following in their father's footsteps are those with fast thoughts and schemes constantly bubbling in the mind; how to make a few quick coin and then lay blame on someone else. Not to say that their mother isn't quick but where Oheln will sic one of his 'workers' on any troublemakers Erwyna has no problems stepping in and calling out those troublermakers she spots. And with her sharp eyes there isn't much she misses.

These tiny orbs are scalding to the touch, translucent so that the looping bodies of the hatchlings within are visible as they churn about, as active and lively as their thriving parents, and when they hatch, it is much like the crackling of a fire. They zoom out of their eggs like teeny sparks, lighting ablaze anything they touch, though they aren’t intentionally dangerous.
As the children of an ember spirit and a spark spirit, these little firestarters are merely flammable by nature, and like most spirals, they exhibit an energetic, almost playful nature. It’s sometimes difficult to find other clans willing to house the little monsters, though, for their constant need for consumption and their knack for accidental destruction makes them high maintenance den mates. All children of Tamua and Candrima glow faintly from within, and their exact health can be determined precisely by how strong their light is. It seems their need to feed comes from an innate instinct to feed the fires in their bellies, and as such, each of them exhibits fire abilities, no matter what their domain is. Certain special hatchlings even demonstrate a manipulation of electricity, much to Jesok’s simultaneous dismay and delight. Despite their destructive natures, these hatchlings are often playful and enthusiastic, and their natural heat makes them great companions for those traveling through the ice domains.[/i]

Thus are the beings born of the confrontations between Kaijen and Elrahni. There are those who believe that Elrahni is an alien, a creature from the stars that struck the soil thousands of years ago, while others believe it to be a failed experiment shared between the forces of Lightning and Arcane, but whatever it is, this massive beast made of shifting crystal is a fierce and savage being. If left unchecked, the world as we know it would be covered in the cold, unfeeling stone its body is made of, leaving the planet as little more than a glittering shell. Kaijen’s story is as a unknown as Elrahni’s is, but unlike the towering crystal,
Kaijen is not the first of his kind and he won’t be the last. Far larger than a regular ridgeback and gifted with an unnatural strength, he is the only being outside the gods capable of crushing the living crystal to pieces, forcing it into hundred year slumbers until it reforms and returns to challenge the next generation. Every time these two beasts of legend meet in battle, the raw force of their combat creates pockets of magical energy that are both deadly and life-giving in nature. Living creatures are caught up in vacuums of splintering stone, but sometimes a piece of either combatant gets snared instead and a being made of sea and stone is born.
While none of these beasts grow to be as large as their parents, they are often bigger than typical of their species, and some of them are dangerous and brutal while others maintain the sentience of their father. They are small forces of their own, though, gifted like their father with demigod feats of strength and a wild nature that can’t always be contained. Many of them are cut down by Kaijen himself, for though they may become like him in time, the crystals that mark their bodies may also overtake them, and there’s no knowing what a beast made of both of he and his opponent are capable of.[/i]

They’ve always known that he must go, and so rather than resent his leaving, they celebrate his return, eager to tell their children of their father’s gentle and playful nature while also exposing them to their own world. Silvermoon is an inventor, with Reine as her apprentice, and the hatchlings are raised alongside her laboratory where they are taught all she has to offer. Silvermoon, full of energy and exuberance, easily keeps up with the curious younglings and all their wayward experiments while Reine is full of gentle praise for all of their accomplishments, and their father, when he does return, is playful, goodnatured, and full of just enough mystery to keep some little minds awake with curiosity at night.

Noel’s love for adventure makes her a sometimes absent partner in raising the children, but she’s always back at their side as soon as their wings and legs are strong enough to take them with her.
As such, children born between this awkward, sometimes forgetful spiral and the elegant siren she calls a mate, are oftentimes a perfect unison between both partners. They maintain their mother’s charm and pleasant personality, while also having a keen and profound knowledge about the realm they call home. With their excellent knowledge regarding flora, fauna, and terrain, they make for excellent guides, hunters, trackers, and sometimes even scribes and bards if they favor their mother’s side. Many of these children are eager to learn and adventure, so it’s no surprise when they find their way on the other side of the hazy rift between the Trick World and Sorienth.

This color thickens and darkens as they grow, and when they can be moved, they are nearly ebony, the smooth, flimsy material they were before turning to a polished iron instead.
It is then that the advisor of the Blackhand, Jakan, removes them from their nest, taking them out of the dark, bleak crypt to hatch away from the madness that lurks within it. They are born instead in the bramble thatches beyond the castle’s guards, never to know their parents of their origins as they are raised by silent servants sworn to secrecy. They give the hatchlings what they need to survive, keeping them warm during the Tangle Wood’s cold days and feeding them the local insects and beasts until they grow strong enough to leave on their own. Having known only darkness from the moment they existed, these guardian children resemble their parents as they are always pale, with dark skeletal markings that line the ridges of their bodies, their faces bearing skull-like patches. In the dark they often look like ghosts with the paler parts of their body standing out against the shadows, and as such, they’re sometimes frightening to behold. Because of this, many children of the crypt keepers grow to be assassins or spies, silent despite their size and vicious after a cold and emotionless upbringing.

He’s grateful for his gift, and grateful to her, and what better way to show his love than to find a way to bring her back? It took years to develop, and plenty of other dragons called him mad for even attempting it, but eventually he built a shell for her that was so real, so lifelike, that there seemed to be no visual difference between her and a creature of blood and bone. She was so overjoyed at finding sensation back in her fingertips, and he so elated to be able to [i]touch[/i] her at last, that they fell together at once.
Even with all his tinkering and precision, Kale hadn’t predicted that this body of hers would be able to form life. He’d built it himself, after all, and breeding certainly hadn’t been in the schematics, but there’s magic in Sorienth that even science can’t explain, and one way or another, the two suddenly found themselves to be parents. Their children are often even more talented than their father as they are gifted with the spectral abilities of intangibility or X-ray vision, sometimes even telekinesis. They don’t always inherit Kale’s efficiency with machines, but at his heels, they’re certain to pick up a thing or two about mechanics that other hatchlings don’t. He hadn’t been prepared to be a father, and it still catches him off guard, but he tries to teach his children the same values he’s found useful in life. Never give up even if no one believes in you, never let the nay-sayers effect you, and always stick to your guns. Arseni, on the other hand, still struggles with adapting into her new human body. She’s been an intangible ghost for so long, wandering in the mist between, that she’s forgotten how to be a dragon. She loves her children, but she finds herself tending more to their practical needs than their emotional ones. For her, a cry for help could be a cry of pain, fear, sadness, hunger, or anything else that might cause distress and she struggles to pinpoint exact reasons for her children’s emotions. Because of this, she awkwardly tends to all of her hatchlings with bandaids and stiff pats on the head until she’s told or she figures out what’s wrong.

It was a girl, small and still glowing brightly as if she still hung in the inky darkness overhead. This is the first time he met Nanael, and the first time he learned of the worlds beyond the planet most dragonkind called home. It occurred to him then that the deities of Sorienth may not be the first of their kind, and that there were others out there, many others, scattered in the darkness overhead.
More dedicated than ever to his trade, he’s an excellent teacher, though he does tend to be rather scatterbrained at times when he’s caught up in the excitement of his research. Nanael has been a great help in his discoveries, and though their relationship was bordering on awkward at first, it has developed into something a great deal more than just idle curiosity; love, and it’s a subject that baffles them both. Where Nanael is from, children are born as specs of light and raised communally amidst the other constellations, drifting from point to point on a rite of passage that teaches them the history of the stars and the worlds they overlook; worlds like Sorienth, and so as a mother, she takes somewhat of an offhand approach. Hers and Zydun’s hatchlings exhibit the unique qualities of their fallen mother, often with glowing markings and eyes that make keeping track of the little ones much easier in dark places. They never touch the ground, even as eggs, floating about as if within zero gravity, gliding effortlessly without the use of their wings and as such, they never grow tired during flight, making them excellent messengers and guides. They’re raised by the school itself, but instead of drifting between stars, they explore different academics, from Furic’s alchemy all the way to Theus’s arcana, and all the varied flights and species teach them much about the cultures and histories they’re usually eager to explore.

He sees everything and nothing, unable to know for sure if the dreams his waking mind perceives are real or just the delusions of a crippled martyr, but there must be some truth to visions he sees for when the mysterious pearlcatcher showers her fragmented features, the Abiding Boneyard gives birth to glimmering lights.
She comes to him like an angel, glowing like starlight with wings and parts of her body shining like stained glass. Everything about her is surreal, and only with her touch does the Eastern Martyr know real peace. She never speaks, so he doesn’t know her name, but their children are much like her. They are wisps in the desert, their skin glowing in the night, little more than figments of the imagination to those they do not wish to show themselves to. They are often reclusive, hiding on the edge of wandering dragon’s perception, watching and learning as they battle an innate curiosity, but those that do reveal themselves are too beautiful to be real. Their presence in the desert has created myths and folk stories, and some believe that it is impossible to know these wisps’ true appearance, for it changes in each dragon’s eyes to suit the desires of the onlooker. They possess many talents, but they’re known for their ability to glide silently, to teleport, and the ability to turn invisible when exposed to the light of the moon or sun.

The Wyrmwood
These dragons hail from the Plague Domain, both seeking shelter and embracing the dark, gruesome nature of their diseased homeland. Whether they belong to the wood or to the kingdom of Baalim, there is something darkly beautiful about this clan’s ethereal denizens.

With a Head Ambassador and the Arcane Elder as their parents, any child of Orison and Lorna is raised understanding courtly manners and how to present themselves in a dignified manner. Orison is a firm father, leading very much by example on how his children should carry themselves and interact with other dragons. And while not all of their children follow his path into the verbal maze of diplomatic talks and trade many find they are gifted with a silver tongue for quick talking and even explaining difficult ideas in easy to grasp terms. Any of the children who show exceptional magical progress take after their mother, Lorna, who acts as the magical liaison with allied clans. She makes sure all her children have at least the basics of magical understanding, even those that show no promise, and encourages those with greater abilities to further in their studies.

Those children that find themselves under the tender care of Oheln and Erwyna aren't necessarily raised by their parents, or more exactly raised only by their parents as there are always tenders and workers around. Known amongst their territory as the Master and Mistress, any children from this pair of land and business owners will be raised with a keen understanding of right and wrong, and how to get around those stuck within that black and white ideology. Those following in their father's footsteps are those with fast thoughts and schemes constantly bubbling in the mind; how to make a few quick coin and then lay blame on someone else. Not to say that their mother isn't quick but where Oheln will sic one of his 'workers' on any troublemakers Erwyna has no problems stepping in and calling out those troublermakers she spots. And with her sharp eyes there isn't much she misses.

No one knows exactly how Tamua and Candrima came into existence themselves, and even more baffling to those dragons that know them is the concept of the two spectral spirals somehow managing to breed. They never seem to copulate with one another, and yet not too long after they reached full maturity, Jesok, their blacksmith keeper, began to find little eggs nestled in the furnaces amongst the soot and ash. These tiny orbs are scalding to the touch, translucent so that the looping bodies of the hatchlings within are visible as they churn about, as active and lively as their thriving parents, and when they hatch, it is much like the crackling of a fire. They zoom out of their eggs like teeny sparks, lighting ablaze anything they touch, though they aren’t intentionally dangerous.
As the children of an ember spirit and a spark spirit, these little firestarters are merely flammable by nature, and like most spirals, they exhibit an energetic, almost playful nature. It’s sometimes difficult to find other clans willing to house the little monsters, though, for their constant need for consumption and their knack for accidental destruction makes them high maintenance den mates. All children of Tamua and Candrima glow faintly from within, and their exact health can be determined precisely by how strong their light is. It seems their need to feed comes from an innate instinct to feed the fires in their bellies, and as such, each of them exhibits fire abilities, no matter what their domain is. Certain special hatchlings even demonstrate a manipulation of electricity, much to Jesok’s simultaneous dismay and delight. Despite their destructive natures, these hatchlings are often playful and enthusiastic, and their natural heat makes them great companions for those traveling through the ice domains.

These hatchlings are conceived similar to the formation of diamonds, where the pressure of the forces of nature bears down so hard upon the earth’s elements that something entirely new is crafted. Thus are the beings born of the confrontations between Kaijen and Elrahni. There are those who believe that Elrahni is an alien, a creature from the stars that struck the soil thousands of years ago, while others believe it to be a failed experiment shared between the forces of Lightning and Arcane, but whatever it is, this massive beast made of shifting crystal is a fierce and savage being. If left unchecked, the world as we know it would be covered in the cold, unfeeling stone its body is made of, leaving the planet as little more than a glittering shell. Kaijen’s story is as a unknown as Elrahni’s is, but unlike the towering crystal,
Kaijen is not the first of his kind and he won’t be the last. Far larger than a regular ridgeback and gifted with an unnatural strength, he is the only being outside the gods capable of crushing the living crystal to pieces, forcing it into hundred year slumbers until it reforms and returns to challenge the next generation. Every time these two beasts of legend meet in battle, the raw force of their combat creates pockets of magical energy that are both deadly and life-giving in nature. Living creatures are caught up in vacuums of splintering stone, but sometimes a piece of either combatant gets snared instead and a being made of sea and stone is born.
While none of these beasts grow to be as large as their parents, they are often bigger than typical of their species, and some of them are dangerous and brutal while others maintain the sentience of their father. They are small forces of their own, though, gifted like their father with demigod feats of strength and a wild nature that can’t always be contained. Many of them are cut down by Kaijen himself, for though they may become like him in time, the crystals that mark their bodies may also overtake them, and there’s no knowing what a beast made of both of he and his opponent are capable of.

Raised by their two den mothers, Reine and Silvermoon, these hatchlings often take after their maternal influences more than their elusive father. A keeper of the night, Scintillan’s business in the dark arts of the world is often kept secret from the hatchlings and many of them come out of their eggs not knowing their father’s face until their first year of age. Due to his nature as a nocturne, Scintillan seldom returns home save for during the dark of the world’s winters, but he does often send gifts, letters, and trinkets to those he keeps waiting back at home. Even without their father, though, these hatchlings have no lack of love, for their mothers easily fill the void Scintillan has left. They’ve always known that he must go, and so rather than resent his leaving, they celebrate his return, eager to tell their children of their father’s gentle and playful nature while also exposing them to their own world. Silvermoon is an inventor, with Reine as her apprentice, and the hatchlings are raised alongside her laboratory where they are taught all she has to offer. Silvermoon, full of energy and exuberance, easily keeps up with the curious younglings and all their wayward experiments while Reine is full of gentle praise for all of their accomplishments, and their father, when he does return, is playful, goodnatured, and full of just enough mystery to keep some little minds awake with curiosity at night.

Makri and Agate’s hatchlings are often as stalwart and curious as their adventuring parents. Nestled between strong wings, these children are guided by the feel of the winds against their scales and encouraged to discover all the world has to offer for themselves. Their father, Makri, is driven by discovery, and all his adventures are meticulously catalogued in his vast collection of leather bound tomes and journals, free for the more studious hatchlings to peruse as they grow. Each of their children is gifted a journal before they leave the nest, and many return full tomes back to their parent’s lair to join their father’s so that their adventures can be passed onto their siblings. Many of their hatchlings inherit this thirst for knowledge and exploration, and others still possess the fine qualities of their mother. Agate is a kind, and gentle female, loyal and dedicated to the protection of her hatchlings and her beloved on their many ventures into the world. She is always by his side as a faithful and nurturing companion, while also being quick to butt her head into her mate’s business when he gets out of his depth. Where Makri is intelligent, Agate is wise, and keeps him (and their hatchlings) out of trouble to the best of her ability. When she can’t, though, you can count on her to defend her beloved and her children by any means necessary.

Noel may have the coloration of a tree sprite, but one with nature this adventuring little spiral surely is not. She has a vague and general understanding of the world she roams, but her facts on the Trick World could be relied on as more…approximations than actual facts. Despite this, ever since she was drawn into the Trick World from Sorienth, she has taken her unnatural uprooting in stride, and it’s her confidence and playful charm that attracted Glyn to her in the first place. Glyn is something like a siren, wading about in the deep waters of a shaded pool in a beautiful glade, and usually he’s tempted to lure unsuspecting strangers to their demise in his lake, Noel and her strange partner, Olexa, were too intriguing to eat. He is as playful as Glyn is, playing tricks on the girls in the form of splashes and ill-placed minnows, but when it comes to tending the hatchlings, he is gentle. Noel’s love for adventure makes her a sometimes absent partner in raising the children, but she’s always back at their side as soon as their wings and legs are strong enough to take them with her.
As such, children born between this awkward, sometimes forgetful spiral and the elegant siren she calls a mate, are oftentimes a perfect unison between both partners. They maintain their mother’s charm and pleasant personality, while also having a keen and profound knowledge about the realm they call home. With their excellent knowledge regarding flora, fauna, and terrain, they make for excellent guides, hunters, trackers, and sometimes even scribes and bards if they favor their mother’s side. Many of these children are eager to learn and adventure, so it’s no surprise when they find their way on the other side of the hazy rift between the Trick World and Sorienth.

The Trick World
The members of the Trick World are shrouded in mystery, for they are the heart of an alternate dimension created in a last effort to contain a remnant of the Shade that threatened the land like a plague. Few understand the realm between the two worlds, and even fewer understand the mysterious Trick World itself, but the dragons there are lush with magic and abilities unique to their world.

A clutch between two soulless beasts is rare, for their union isn’t brought upon by love or lust. Instead, it is consummated by boredom during times when the crypt keepers are not troubled by the world that exists beyond their lair, when the darkness they haunt is silent and still in its chains. In some ways, this makes these hatchlings a sign of peace and tranquility, though the sight of them in the darkness hardly feels as much to the citizens of Blackhand. The eggs are fragile to the touch and a pale, ivory color that is translucent to the light, revealing tiny skeletal beasts shrouded in cobweb veins and slimy mucus. This color thickens and darkens as they grow, and when they can be moved, they are nearly ebony, the smooth, flimsy material they were before turning to a polished iron instead.
It is then that the advisor of the Blackhand, Jakan, removes them from their nest, taking them out of the dark, bleak crypt to hatch away from the madness that lurks within it. They are born instead in the bramble thatches beyond the castle’s guards, never to know their parents of their origins as they are raised by silent servants sworn to secrecy. They give the hatchlings what they need to survive, keeping them warm during the Tangle Wood’s cold days and feeding them the local insects and beasts until they grow strong enough to leave on their own. Having known only darkness from the moment they existed, these guardian children resemble their parents as they are always pale, with dark skeletal markings that line the ridges of their bodies, their faces bearing skull-like patches. In the dark they often look like ghosts with the paler parts of their body standing out against the shadows, and as such, they’re sometimes frightening to behold. Because of this, many children of the crypt keepers grow to be assassins or spies, silent despite their size and vicious after a cold and emotionless upbringing.

Reviving a long since dead spirit into the empty husk of a machine is impossible, they said, and even the idea of such a machine breeding inconceivable, they added, but they never knew Kale. From the moment he was born, this platinum pearlcatcher has been an inventing prodigy, turning implausibilities into achievable possibilities, but even Lightwaver-gifted talent isn’t enough for what he’s managed to accomplish in his short life. No, to do what he does as well as he does, he needed help, and he found it in the ghostly presence of a skydancer. He doesn’t know why he can see her, but she’s been with him for as long as he can remember, her frost-colored eyes peering at him from beyond the veil, unseen to all other beasts and creatures but still felt as she drifts about. Each flap of her silken wings turns the air cold about her, but even as haunting as she appears to him, she is gentle. She is his oldest, dearest friend, and it’s through her eyes that he can see in the machines he repairs and crafts. She goes where he cannot and sees things he would have to take devices apart piece by piece to find, and it’s this connection with her that helps make him the prodigy he is. He’s grateful for his gift, and grateful to her, and what better way to show his love than to find a way to bring her back? It took years to develop, and plenty of other dragons called him mad for even attempting it, but eventually he built a shell for her that was so real, so lifelike, that there seemed to be no visual difference between her and a creature of blood and bone. She was so overjoyed at finding sensation back in her fingertips, and he so elated to be able to touch her at last, that they fell together at once.
Even with all his tinkering and precision, Kale hadn’t predicted that this body of hers would be able to form life. He’d built it himself, after all, and breeding certainly hadn’t been in the schematics, but there’s magic in Sorienth that even science can’t explain, and one way or another, the two suddenly found themselves to be parents. Their children are often even more talented than their father as they are gifted with the spectral abilities of intangibility or X-ray vision, sometimes even telekinesis. They don’t always inherit Kale’s efficiency with machines, but at his heels, they’re certain to pick up a thing or two about mechanics that other hatchlings don’t. He hadn’t been prepared to be a father, and it still catches him off guard, but he tries to teach his children the same values he’s found useful in life. Never give up even if no one believes in you, never let the nay-sayers effect you, and always stick to your guns. Arseni, on the other hand, still struggles with adapting into her new human body. She’s been an intangible ghost for so long, wandering in the mist between, that she’s forgotten how to be a dragon. She loves her children, but she finds herself tending more to their practical needs than their emotional ones. For her, a cry for help could be a cry of pain, fear, sadness, hunger, or anything else that might cause distress and she struggles to pinpoint exact reasons for her children’s emotions. Because of this, she awkwardly tends to all of her hatchlings with bandaids and stiff pats on the head until she’s told or she figures out what’s wrong.

When late one night you gaze up at stars, do you ever wonder if perhaps they are looking back? This isn’t exactly the question a young male imperial named Zyadun was pondering when he took up the title as the School of Magic’s resident astronomer, but it’s one he found answered one evening when a single glittering gem fell to Sorienth in view of his grand telescope. It crashed into the waves aside the Crystalpine Reaches with a deafening sound like thunder as he hurried from his post out to the shore, hoping to salvage it before it sank too far into the water’s depths. A fallen star! What a find! He couldn’t wait to share what he thought would be a broken stone with his students, but it wasn’t a rock he found tumbling in with the tide. It was a girl, small and still glowing brightly as if she still hung in the inky darkness overhead. This is the first time he met Nanael, and the first time he learned of the worlds beyond the planet most dragonkind called home. It occurred to him then that the deities of Sorienth may not be the first of their kind, and that there were others out there, many others, scattered in the darkness overhead.
More dedicated than ever to his trade, he’s an excellent teacher, though he does tend to be rather scatterbrained at times when he’s caught up in the excitement of his research. Nanael has been a great help in his discoveries, and though their relationship was bordering on awkward at first, it has developed into something a great deal more than just idle curiosity; love, and it’s a subject that baffles them both. Where Nanael is from, children are born as specs of light and raised communally amidst the other constellations, drifting from point to point on a rite of passage that teaches them the history of the stars and the worlds they overlook; worlds like Sorienth, and so as a mother, she takes somewhat of an offhand approach. Hers and Zydun’s hatchlings exhibit the unique qualities of their fallen mother, often with glowing markings and eyes that make keeping track of the little ones much easier in dark places. They never touch the ground, even as eggs, floating about as if within zero gravity, gliding effortlessly without the use of their wings and as such, they never grow tired during flight, making them excellent messengers and guides. They’re raised by the school itself, but instead of drifting between stars, they explore different academics, from Furic’s alchemy all the way to Theus’s arcana, and all the varied flights and species teach them much about the cultures and histories they’re usually eager to explore.
