@Astariel - they come from eggs that can be found while gathering, or as loot drops in the Coliseum. (You can also find them for sale in the Auction House, in the "other" section). They always hatch one of the four started breeds, in random colors with basic genes. Sometimes, they're super ugly (haha), but sometimes you get lucky and get one that's really gorgeous. And most of them can be made much prettier with genes (although that can be expensive). :)
