Fernflower didn't mind the solitude, it was preferable to rowdy circus always taking place back home. It was here, wandering the aisles that she found her passion. It was a book on ancient Guardian Water Magic. She had always been at least a little curious about the history of her people and had longed to return home to the Sea of a Thousand Currents at some point in her life. Yet, it was this book and truly drove her to leave the Starfall Isles. Magic was commonplace in the Starfall Isles, but Guardians often struggle with its practice. She had initially decided to read the book in hopes of learning magic specific to Guardians to her more magically inclined Fae friends. The book helped some, but one can only learn so much without a teacher. Determined to learn magic and return to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Ferflower finally resolved to leave home. She said her farewells to her family and friends and set out on a ship bound for Azunis, a major city on the border of the Windswept Plateau and the Sea of a Thousand Currents. It was there was she learned of the city of Mistide, located on the frontier. Mistide had always had strong magical ties and many of its inhabitants practiced magic. She heard rumors of a powerful Guardian sorceress working for the Erelun, Mistide's Garrison. Fernflower currently lives in the heart of Mistide. Although Lorvora, works for the Erelun, Fernflower opted out. Lorvora is now Fernflower's teacher despite often being absent on Erelun missions. Fernflower frequently spends her time with Mavis the local historian who also happens to sell books. The two have been pining after one another for a hot minute, but neither can quite seem to take a hint. Even as a hatchling, she never truly fit in. Her mother and father were members of a traveling band of healers, known as the Gladis Druids. The group was a clan of sorts, but not in the traditional sense. They were always on the move never staying anywhere long, healing people as they went along their unending journey. Ever since she was hatched, Night displayed a strong affinity to magic, but, much to her parent's chagrin, never took any interest in healing. She learned it more out of obligation more than anything. Night's lack of interest alienated her from the rest of her clan. Seeking to escape the loneliness imposed upon her, Night would spend hours upon hours with dragons in the lands the Gladis Druids visited. She would sit and listen to the legends of these different clans and learn their history and different magics, yet she never found a magic which intrigued her. It was in the Tangled Wood where everything changed for Night. She was searching through the old books in the back of the clan's hoard when something caught her eye. It was an old grimoire. The clasp on the front and the decorative metal was rusted the ancient leather was almost peeling off the front. The grimoire itself seemed to pulsate with dark energy. Night hesitantly took the book into her claws and opened the cover. As she began to read through the book she discovered it was about necromancy, and even more interesting was that the book seemed to be talking to her. Night didn't sleep at all that night. She stayed up reading through the grimoire, then reading through it again. Her devotion to magic had finally found its mark, but amongst the Gladis Druids, necromancy was forbidden magic. The Gladis Druids had sworn to always protect and preserve life, the two things necromancy stood strictly against. Night kept the grimoire even after they moved on to another clan, and began to practice necromancy in secret. But she knew it was unsustainable. Her clanmates would find out eventually and she would be banished and exiled, so Night beat them to it. She ran away. She didn't have many belongings due to the Gladis Druids' nomadic lifestyle. Night just slipped out one night and was never seen by her clanmates again. She didn't bother leaving a note, she had always been an outsider, and she wouldn't be missed anyway, whispered the grimoire. She renounced her birth Flight and instead began to dedicate herself to Shadow Flight to further her necromantic abilities. Night traveled all of Sornieth pursuing more knowledge on the art. She honed her abilities and became an impressive necromancer. Yet she craved some stability in her life. Night had amassed all the knowledge she had sought and now just wanted to settle down. She eventually chose Mistide. The city sat on a powerful ley line, imbuing the city with a strange affinity for magic, and Mistide's location on the frontier gave her the isolation she had begun to crave. Night soon found out that the citizens of Mistide hardly take no for an answer when it comes to getting to know their fellow citizens, well at least a few very relentless dragons don't. Several dragons managed to weasel their way into Night's life as much as she tried to keep them out. Felsus being the most notable. He was the son of royalty in the Sunbeam Ruins, who had left his home clan after refusing to marry the girl his father wanted him to. The pair bonded over having left their respective home clans for breaking taboos and began to regularly spend time together. Eventually, the two fell in love, though Felsus will claim it was love at first sight, Night trusts Felsus completely and he is the most important person in her life. Felsus is the only dragon Night has told about the grimoire, and he helped Night contain some of the book's dark energy Currently, Night spends most of her time just outside the city walls. Dragons often come to her for advice and to speak to dead loved ones. Night hardly practices necromancy outside of summoning spirits and defending her home from the Beastclans. The Erelun has asked her several times if she wants to join their ranks and she has turned them down every time.
