You are deep in a dark wood. There is nothing around you but trees, as far as the eye can see. Gnarled branches reach toward the sky like so many arms.

From behind one of the trees steps a Wildclaw. Light blue accents her body, while her face is hidden behind a bird's skull, adorned with feathers. Skulls hang from a leather string around her neck.

And then she speaks.

"Welcome, traveler. You look lost. Oh? Who am I? My name is Rigardon, Keeper of this little shop.

"Shop? What shop? This forest is the shop. You see, contained within each tree is a story, waiting to be written. You look like you could one.

"Come, sit down. For a fee, I could give you a story of your very own."

He started his life deep in the Crystalspine Reaches of the Starfall Isles, near the Spyre Falls. He has no mother or father; instead, his egg was created from a falling star and hatched at the dawn of winter. These are traits that most dragons would use to describe Meghan. With a stern, no-nonsense demeanor, sarcastic streak and little time for jokes, Meg takes anything and everything very, very seriously. She has no time for "idiots" and has a tendency to speak in monosyllables to those she deems unworthy of her time. Which, honestly, is most. With an attitude like that, it may seem like Meg has no friends. But once you get past her icy exterior, you'll find a quick-witted and loyal friend. Beowyr is one such lucky soul. Despite the area being a high point for magic, she has no interest in the arcane arts; she can be surprisingly vicious, clashing with claws and teeth, just like the "commoners" as her parents would put it. But hers is a graceful strength, an almost dance of claws. Because of her looks she is constantly underestimated. That would be the enemy's first, and last, mistake. A lone dragon shivered and drew her wings in closer to her body, trying to keep warm in the chill of the air. She had been walking for days; having left her parents back at the magical hub of the Focal Point, she had been traveling alone for weeks, flying by day and resting by night. But this night she was too tired to fly any further, yet too restless to sleep. She had a strange feeling that something was about to occur, something important. She had seen the first falling star three nights ago, and the second the night before. Both had landed in the same direction. She would find out what those falling stars signified. Out of the darkness came a soft cry. Sylvara, as she has named herself soon after setting off on her own, perked her ears up. It was the cry of a hatchling. And it was coming from the same area that the star had fallen. Beowyr and Sylvara have gone to check it out; Wächter is staying behind to guard the hatchlings.” Clock frowned. “And are they worried?” Lore paused. “I’m not sure,” he admitted. “Wächter is, but then again he’s always worried.” He paused again, longer this time. Clock frowned. “What’s wrong?” she asked. Lore sighed. “Beo’s hopeful,” he said quietly. “He said he thinks this may be the one.” “The dragon he’s looking for?” “Yes.” “Well then what’s the problem?” “I’m afraid of the effect it’ll have on him if it isn’t. You’ve seen how morose he’s been getting lately; I don’t want to see him get even worse.”
[br /]
Fire. It was everywhere, burning everything it touched and eating up everything in its path. The light from the blaze drowned out that of the stars and even the moon, lighting up the sky in a reddish hazy glow. Owl stared down at it from her place in the sky, reveling in the way the flames licked the air. It was beautiful, a warm orange with flecks of red and yellow that roared with an inner life as it destroyed the Riveters' homes. The spiral dragon smirked at the sight. That would drive them out for sure. With a powerful flap of her wings Owl was gone into the night, the only sign she had been there the powerful flames and thick charcoal smoke. The walls of the temple were broken off in chunks, huge stone blocks laying scattered around both the inside and outside. It looked as if time had done quite a number on the building, Maelrys thought, gazing at the ruins around her. She walked through the pillars into the entrance to the temple. It was large and open, with openings that must have once been doorways posted at regular intervals and walls that towered over her in some spots and barely came up to her knees in others. At the back of the temple stood an altar. It too was made of stone, and although it was as worn as the rest of the temple it seemed to be in decent enough condition. Maelrys took a rather indirect route toward it, walking close to the sides of the building so she could inspect the walls. They seemed to be made of sandstone and were a dark gray in color. Faint carvings were inscribed on the side, and Maelrys stopped in front of one to view it closer. It seemed to be a mural, and looked to depict a god of some sort – a guardian, rising up on spread wings with a halo of light surrounding the head. The dragon’s lower half was buried in the sand, but it was still beautiful. I whirled around, only to come face-to-face with the most dangerous looking dragon I had ever seen in my life. Cobwebs hung from powerful wings. The body was draped in a shroud that blended in with the gloom around him. Eerie candles floated around him, seemingly under their own power. I must admit, I was terrified. And then he spoke again. “You are very far from home, Lightbringer. Why are you here?” I startled, not expecting the other dragon to speak to me again. It took a few tries, but eventually I found my own voice. “I-I seem to have gotten lost,” I stammered. “I was just traveling through Wispwillow Grove, only I took a wrong turn and…” I trailed off at his impassive stare. It was then that I notice that the other dragon was blindfolded. There was no way he could see me. So how did he know to call me Lightbringer? Dried leaves blew in a strong gust wind, swirling and dancing in the air. From over a ridge appeared two figures, huddled against the gale: a small ivory fae, whose head fans were pulled back against the heavy winds, and a blue crystalline tundra whose fur waved and twisted in the wind. The stopped for a moment, hovering over the ground, and looked back at her companion. “We’re almost there,” she called back to him encouragingly. “Not long now.” The tundra nodded his assent, fur fluffed up against the cold. He looked around at his surroundings in interest; after so long in the labyrinth of the cave system outside his bottle, he was fascinated with the world. Dracula nodded and opened the book. He read the first page.

Shifting, tilting,
The sands cover us.
They cover our backs, our heads,
Leaving little room for air.
They are everywhere, and yet
Nowhere at all.
Black crows fly above,
Escaping the sand’s wrath.
Oh! How beautiful is it,
The hand of Time
Which reaches down,
Grasps at our throats with gentle hands.
The sand shifts. We are buried,
Once more, in Time’s gentle touch.
