The local edgy dudebro, Isfet is responsible for the clan's defences as well as the reason for the clan to need defences. Some dragons might question the reliability of having someone so dangerously edgy in charge of building traps and fortifications, but if the clan can trust him to handle the landmines, they can trust him to not blow them up. Of course, taking in the consideration of his edginess, this might just mean they'll end up with a gothic castle with giant spikes covering every inch of the lair, but hey, it's a risk worth taking. Also, considering some of the dragons in this lair, the trend might really catch on.

Nephthys was sold as an exalt to a military cause, and grew up with army jackets as her blankets and swords and cleavers as her toys. Miraculously, she did not kill herself before she was of age to join the combat. Their campaign swept through the Scarred Wasteland, led by a clan determined to conquer the many lairs dotting the Plague land. Unfortunately, this campaign met its demise when their general decided to do a cannonball into the Wyrmwound. Which was convenient for Nephthys, as she was about to be strung up for attempting to go rogue.
Rumours that Nephthys was the one who pushed him are without evidence.

Blown in by the wind, Venti earned his way into the clan's good graces via the art of making hot chocolate. This might not sound like a big deal, but considering the regular Aequitian beverage usually contains water with more water, hot chocolate was a welcomed change.
Of course, not even really good hot chocolate is enough to earn a place in the clan. (It totally is.) Thus, Venti is also a mage and healer, fighting alongside Veles and Netjeri in their team and healing his clanmates when they end up on the wrong side of their own cauldrons. His healing skills are greatly revered as him playing healer means the rest of the clan doesn't have to go to Nephthys to get themselves treated, and everyone likes spending less time around Nephthys.

There's a rumour in the Scarred Wasteland
The lands in which I was born
That love was a disease
No warrior should ever grow
For the moment you loved someone
They become a weakness you can't afford
They become your bondage with but a single word
"I love you," you told me, and I thought you foolhardy and blind
For all I'd ever known were untrustworthiness and lies
Little did I know back then that the only one lying was me
As I plotted and backstabbed - all my heart wanted was to be free
I don't know when I realised; I don't know when the thought crossed my mind
That the only thing I wanted was to have you next to me
I wanted your kindness and the gentle way you saw everything
And the way you act so selflessly, so warmly, was mesmerising
You saw both my good side and the side I hid deep in the dark
And even so you didn't judge the shadows residing in my heart
You radiated a closure, a warmth I'd long forgot
My darling - can I just say? You're quite the work of art.
I don't know when I realised; I don't know when you stole your way into my heart
But now that I understand this, I will never let us be apart
If love is a disease, I care not how ill I become
Because the only dragon who's ever accepted me -
My dear, you're the only one.

There's a whispering in the darkness
An ominous reminder that nothing lasts
And that no matter how bright the present
Everything's doomed to be lost in the past
There's a whispering in the darkness
A telltale sign of what's to come
They tell the world of the future
They commune with those who can fathom
And he's one of those who can hear them
He listens to their murmurs in his head
He sees the road before him
He sees Fate weaving its crisscrossed threads
He sees the birth of what is to come
He sees the deaths of what's to be
He hears the melody of the world and observes
Life and death in perfect symmetry
But the world calls him naive and foolish
Scorns the words that dance off his tongue
For no matter how skilled he claims to be
Wisdom can't come from a mind so young
They think his thoughts too tangled
His predictions too far, too wide
And every time he hears them laugh at him
A part of him dies deep inside
Are they right? He sometimes asks himself
Do I truly hear the murmurs of the world
Do I see and hear what I'm supposed to
Or is my sanity's starting to unfurl?
There must be something they see that I haven't
There must be something I don't see in Fate's depths
There must be something I am missing
A sliver of light, a touch of darkness, a last breath
They must know something I don't, he thinks
And he's starting to lose faith in himself
For how can you believe your own words
When they're heard by nobody else?
And all he wants is to help the world
But how can he do so if they push him away?
He languishes in despair and uncertainty
In the shadows day after night, after day
And he's terrifying when surrounded by darkness
With thoughts and words that in shadows thrive
They may laugh, but they fear and stay from him
Not hearing the scream he holds inside
There's a whispering in the darkness
And he's started to suffocate deep inside
My child, take care of those voices
Don't let your sanity unwind

You were formal and you were brilliant
You led with determination in your eyes
And though you were always silent
I couldn't help but be mesmerised
But fool you were, you had your flaws
You sought to lay claim to my heart
You courted me amidst the wars

"Do you think he's awake?"
"I don't know, that was a really rough landing, not to mention the fact he used Myrtle's pond as a landing pad."
"You mean... the one with the cannibalistic dragon-eating kelp?"
"Yes, that's the one. I'm really quite surprised he made it through. Usually, most dragons wouldn't survive the pond. And those that do usually don't survive Myrtle."
"Speaking of Myrtle, you realise by saving this dragon, we've blacklisted ourselves?"
"Valenya?"
"Yes?"
"I think as long as you dare to exist, you're on Myrtle's blacklist."
"Well, thank the heavens for small favours." a small claw prodded Avalon's scales, and he groaned in response. His head spun, fever-clouded and wracked with confusion and pain. He wasn't sure what had happened. The flight from the Citadel -- then there'd been a storm...
"You know, kid, if you don't wake up, someone's going to turn you into soup," the owner of the claw said. The voice was feminine and warm, but hid a thread of steel. "Not me, of course, but there are some members of our clan who would really enjoy having dragon soup for dinner."
"Hush, Valenya, you're making us sound evil." This other voice was gentle, almost melodic.
"And... you're trying to say we're not?"
"Well, at least we try to be sane, don't we?"
"I don't think you get bonus points for trying," Valenya said. She poked Avalon again. He tried to rise, but almost fell on his face. "Oh, good, he's alive. Remarkable healing abilities, for someone who almost drowned while being eaten by kelp. Hey, don't pass out again. I can't carry a big Pearlcatcher like you on my own, and Venti doesn't do heavy duty stuff."

The knight in shining armour nobody asked for, Flameo is the warrior of the skies, dancing and prancing to uphold justice and protect peace. Unfortunately, having arrived at a place that's more often peaceful than not, this just means he's resorted to stirring up trouble so he can be called to calm it. This would be fine, if he wasn't so adamant about being showy about said trouble. It's kind of hard to play the hero when other dragons saw you cosplaying as the villain (it wasn't even a good outfit), and he's still missing a few feathers from that time he tried to convince an Emperor it would be a really good idea to devour that clan over there.
Hopefully, Flameo never goes down the supervillain route, because he'd probably get fired.

The clan's cheerleader, Starfall is the life of the party, always cheering her clanmates on during a battle (and staying safely behind them. You know, just in case.) Proud of her clan and its achievements, she will defend her clan's name to the death (yours) and never hesitates to berate another dragon for insulting her clanmates. For this reason, Starfall gets along well with her clanmates, because if you need someone to defend you from that big meanie over there, Starfall's usually capable of arguing the most eloquent dragon into stuttering incompetence. And she's not one to lose to blows, either. Arguments she can't win with her words, she'll win through trickery. After all, it's not like even the best dragons can argue when they have a concussion.

Snarlie is that guy.
The guy who's always baking cookies in the kitchen. The guy who stands behind the battle lines and cheers everyone on with s'mores during a dom battle. The guy who's goofy and as soft as a marshmallow and is popular among even the more enthusiastically-challenged dragons because it's funny when he invites the pirates over for a picnic.

A master of camouflage, Kavleyn's colouration allows him to disappear into the foliage. Or it would, if he was in any of the other ten flights. Unfortunately, his advantage of colouration is lost in the Starfall Isles, where trees are more pink and purple than orange and green. On the bright side, even if you spot him, his ability to stay still might convince you into thinking that he's just a very odd tree.
In charge of taking care of hatchlings (mostly because we're not trusting Nanshe with that), Kavleyn can most often be found in the hatchery. Of course, taking care of the hatchery also extends to taking care of eggs, so most dragons have tasked him with more taking care of the entire shebang than just hatchling-sitting. Kavleyn would complain more if he wasn't resigned to the fact that nobody else can be trusted with the light of the clan's future. Knowing some of his clanmates - well, he doesn't even want to know what Muffin would do with a den full of hatchlings.

If a dragon wound up working for Baldwin, there was always that wonderful moment in their life where they had a choice between the impossible and the fatalistic, potential doom and certain doom. Most dragons chose the impossible, did the impossible, and promptly quit, leaving Baldwin to his potions. A few chose the fatalistic, survived with few (or many) mutations, and continued on with their lives with the knowledge that they could now overcome anything.
Of course, more often than not, said dragon isn't given the option to choose. Rather, the choice is forced onto them with all the enthusiasm of a hyperactive Spiral, and none of the redundancies that usually come with potentially disastrous consequences. Such occasions aren't uncommon in the Starfall Isles, where anything that tends towards logic and sound reasoning is tossed out the window at the first opportunity, but victims remain victims. And as far as the victims are concerned, Baldwin can go transmute himself in his own cauldron.

Springing free from her nest and floating away, Verronica was an egg with a purpose. Despite not even being hatched, she knew exactly where she was going and why. Strong was the unborn Guardian's pull towards her Charge, and this pull brought her flying at terminal velocity towards and into the Observatory.
Quite literally bursting into existence was probably not the best way to introduce oneself, but it certainly left a very strong impression. In fact, they still haven't rebuilt two of the scaffoldings Verronica ran down during her enthusiastic plunge towards the Arcanist, due to the radioactive pieces of shell that ended up fusing to roof. Researchers witness to the terrific scenario would claim for days after that a meteorite had smashed into the Observatory and that the end of the world was at hand (again). Only after a week of mental therapy were they able to assess the minimal damages (a few escaped bits of wizard slime, an exploded shadowy blob of post-Shade magic, the likes) and come to the agreement that all was just caused by an overly enthusiastic newborn Guardian. Instead of the punishments that would've been enacted in all the other flights, the researchers regarded this hatchling as a budding source of potential and took her under their wing.

Disease, mutation, an experiment gone wrong. It doesn’t matter why.
Appearances. Magic. Dragons. It doesn’t matter what.
Even if it was a hatchling, if it was imperfect, it had to go.
This was the case for a small hatchling abandoned on the footsteps of the Auction House. From the moment he opened his eyes to perceive the world, it was ingrained in his mind that he was not perfect. He wasn’t the shining golden child most parents wanted, or the stocky strong fighter clan leaders sought. He was smart, but not smart enough. Strong, but not strong enough. He was average, and being average meant he was not perfect.
Not unique enough to be worth a single gold coin. Not special enough to catch any dragon’s eye. He was raised treated as if he was nothing.
And soon, he believed that, too.

I thought the darkness was my ally
I thought I was born of the dark
Little did I know just how much
The shadows have corrupted my heart.
Now I'm in a nightmare
And my dreams - they've happened, come true
Have you ever lived a life of fear
Knowing what you've done; what you'll do?
I never said I'm evil
Never hoped to side with the dark
But now that I've seen what I've done
I can no longer tell evil and me apart
I lived my life for the light
Only to become the one thing I despise
Oh, how cruel is Fate?
I feel the Shade watching with evil eyes...
[nextcol]
~~~
[nextcol]
I know the darkness is my ally
I fear not the shadows residing in my heart
Only those who cannot control it
Ever fear the wrath of the dark
You can say it's a nightmare
I say it's a dream come true
Where is the point in fearing
What the darkness can make you do?
You can't say that darkness is evil
You can't say all that is malicious is dark
I've heard and seen far too much
To know that evil and dark are apart
I scorn those that live for the light
Those that the dark despise
You think of darkness as a terrible fate?
Oh, you've never seen Fate's hated eyes.
There's a time I can't quite remember
A time of empty silences and dark caves
A time spent in darkness and hiding
A time when it was freedom I craved
There's a time I can't quite remember
There's a time when there were smiles in your eyes
There was a time you laughed and scolded me
There was a time I wasn't dead inside
Meridon, Lyren, golden eyes
You told me the story of my race's demise
Deities, ruins, a mistake unrevised
You told me the gods wanted me to die
You raised me, loved me, kept me safe
Took your duties to your grave
Helped me, trained me, hid me away
I wish I could return all of what you gave
But fool I was, I scorned to hide
I wanted to explore, I wanted to find
I wanted a horizon that stretched out far
I wanted freedom, and to see the stars
I wished to see the world outside
How foolish and blind I had to be
If I hadn't dreamed of freedom and blue skies
Maybe you'd still be here with me
A misty night, a sword in the dark
I was naive and inexperienced, but you fought with heart
You stalled my attacker while I stood paralysed
On that night I wish I was the one who'd died
They say home is where the heart is
I lost both in one night
As I fell through the free skies I'd dreamed of
Your eyes had already lost light
There's a time I can't quite remember
A time of silence and dark caves
I wish I can go back to how it was -
For all that's left now is your grave.
There was a time when you weren't empty
When you weren't numb beyond feeling pain
There was a time when you were happy
And saw falling stars in the cold rain
There was a time you don't quite remember
When you knew who you were in the world
There was a time, very long ago
When you dreamed of what the future might hold
Golden petals dancing in the air
How long has it been since you've disappeared?
Are those their voices, or yours that you hear?
Is it the world, or simply you you fear?
Empty wishes and honeyed lies
Your own freedom, you've denied
You gave your all, but you don't understand
What you've paid, what you've lost, what you've gained instead
Was it the right choice? Did you do the right thing?
Or did you lose your voice for all of nothing?
Everything you had, you sacrificed
You can pay and pay, but you'll never pay the price
Who did you save? Who did you fail?
Do you remember how being loved feels?
Did you save the right person; the right thing?
Or did you force them to pay for what they can't redeem?
Shining dagger, in your hand
Are they your enemies, or were they your friends?
Nothing is so easy, so it seems
You've fought until you don't remember what living means.
The fighting's not over, but you've survived all the same
Even if you no longer have a name
It's quiet now, is this how it's supposed to be?
You're not sure; if only you had an identity.
~o~O~o~
There was a time when you weren't empty
That time is long gone
You're sitting in the darkness
Wondering what went wrong
The flowers have wilted
Everyone you love is dead
You've survived in the silence
But you're screaming in your head.
There's yet to be a heart that's not fractured
We haven't seen a soul devoid of pain
Every day mortals are tormented
By the memories of those so cruelly slain
Do you hear them in your mind?
The restless' last wishes and groans?
Have you ever listened, then feared -
- that the voices are your own?
A mug of water, a twist of leaves
Drink our tea at your own folly
A touch of mint, a drop of tears
Sip and force yourself before your fears.
Hatchling, family, friends and mate
You can meet them there at the ghostly gates
You think your soul is too high a price to pay?
Then leave, and return to weep with bitter hate.
~o~0~o~
You've drunk our tea, you've seen their ghosts
As our cozy fire burns down to its embers
And then you're just one of them-
- a lonely soul no one remembers.
There's a story spoken in whispers
That tells of a mage long lost
Of great power revealed and hidden
In the sky, the grass, and the frost
There's a story spoken in whispers
And believed loud and clear
And though it's nothing but a legend
It's spread by land, by sea, by air
There's a story spoken in whispers
There's a child with the mage's name
And though he's been told all the tales of his namesake
He wonders if they're just messing with his brain
He was born under an alignment of stars
One that spelled out his fate
Written in astral bodies afar, they say
He's the Chosen One for which his clan awaits
So they named him after the revered mage
Because heroes should never be lost in the past
They say he spells the coming of the old mage's discoveries
And say he is the one who will make the stories last
But for all he knows that mage is just a rumour
A ghost of a dragon from out of the blue
A dream of the common dragons
A wish for a hero that never came true
"You're a reminder of our legend," his clanmates tell him
"You have the potential to be him, back to life."
But despite the encouragement and praises
He feels like he's just a living lie
He has his own mind and feelings
He's his own character, not a mage long gone
But no matter what he tells himself, his clanmates say
He's the living image of the one his name corresponds
And it doesn't take long for simple lies
To start becoming the truth
And it's hard to hold on to your own identity
When even being called by your name doesn't soothe
He struggles every single day
Wondering just who he considers himself to be
"Am I the one they speak of in the stories?
"Can I call myself 'me'?"
"Is this what it means to be Chosen
"To be called by a name you hate
"To be raised like a living trophy
"With a dead hero's past as your fate?"
He thinks there's a time he wanted something different
There was a time when he just wanted to be himself
But now that so many tell him differently
His change of mind can't be helped
He's starting to think there's some relevance
In why they compare him to the mage long gone
And when everyone's telling him the same things -
How can they all be wrong?
There's a story spoken in whispers
And he's starting to hear murmurs in his head
But my child, keep those voices stifled
You know it's not wise to disturb the dead
It was going to be okay.
Her breath shuddered in her chest as she stumbled awkwardly through the Star Wood Strand. Her wings, which had often carried her out of tight situations, were now broken burdens on her back. She resisted the urge to paw at them like a helpless child, and focused her desperation into her limbs.
It was going to be okay, it was going to be okay.
The words were repeated like rosary beads as she ran, guided blindly by the faint blue lights flickering around her, moving on instinct rather than thought. She’d flown this route far too many times to count; she knew it like she knew the patterns on her wings.
It was going to be okay.
Except they had gone this way, the monsters. Except they had gone, and they had returned to where she rested, broken and helpless, speaking of the dead. Except they had acted victorious, scales reeking of the scent of death.
It was going to be okay, it was going to —
She burst into a clearing, and found herself in an unfamiliar place.
It was home and it was not home. The carefully woven dens had been torn, and the faint crying of the wounded echoed through the air. It had to have been from hatchlings; the grown knew better to make a sound in the Strand, because attention meant certain death. To her left limped Stardust, his normally vivid lights a dim glow, his dark blue eyes filled with pain. But he was alive, so she kept moving. Moving, past the limp bodies and the writhing ones, the ones that fought and the ones that laid still. She tore her way through the clearing, and it had to be okay, everything was okay, because she’d taken precautions. She’d made sure they’d be hidden, even if the colony was found. She’d made sure they’d be safe, and protected, and —
Her claws tore through the circle of brambles, and there was nothing there. There was nothing there, and she couldn’t breathe, and she couldn’t breathe, and she couldn’t breathe.
“Hey!” Stardust stumbled after her, eyes determined despite the obvious pain. “Please, slow down. Take it easy—“
“Where are they?” she whispered.
“Haven—
“Where ARE THEY?” she screamed, and the rest of the colony looked at her, and no, it was all wrong, why were they looking at her with pity? It wasn’t because of her broken wings, those would heal in a matter of days. It wasn’t because of her, so why were they looking at her, with eyes of loss and sorrow?”
“Haven,” Stardust gently pried her claws from a tendril of thorns before she could ruin them. “We were caught off guard. The ones higher up survived — they never got that far. But the nests on the ground—"
“No.”
“They were Imperials. The nests on the ground never stood a chance,” Reverie whispered from above, her forelimbs at an awkward angle. “They’re gone. All of them.”
“No, you’re lying,” and her voice was desperate. Hysterical. “You’re lying! You’re all lying!”
“Haven—“
“Five days!” she spun towards Reverie, anguish in her voice. “They were going to hatch in five days, they were protected, they were safe, and—“ she stumbled over her words, and her body followed her collapse to the ground in an almost liquid movement. “They were going to hatch soon,” she whispered, eyes unseeing at the broken shards of magenta before her. “They were going to hatch soon.”
Stardust said nothing. He simply wrapped a wing around her as she sank down to the ground, spiritless. Her children had been her hope, had been her wishes, had been her dream.
She should’ve expected to lose them. After all, a Guide's dream never comes true.
But as much as she hated it, Netjeri was built to survive. Eventually she shook off the darkness and found something to eat. Medicine, she found for the wounds she'd given herself. After she had regained her vigour, she approached the mouth of her lair and looked back at the darkened cave. She could see the draperies she’d woven and the furniture Nascent had made. She remembered how she'd first woken up in this lair, and recalled the good times she'd had. She imagined a warm fire burning in the ashy hearth. A small smile came to her.
“You have been my home.” She said. “But now I must go.”
Spreading her wings, she caught a gentle breeze and drifted off the cliff of which hid her old lair. Like a bolt of black lightning she plummeted down, pulling up at the last second and whisking up a refreshing sea spray. Her wings took her around a rocky bend and sent her soaring over the sea. As she circled a rocky bit of coral, she heard a laugh and from the shadows of the cliff, she saw them. The members of Nascent's new clan. They sat around a fire on the beach, piles of oysters and fish at their feet. Nascent was with them, beside him a beautiful dragoness whose scales shimmered in shades of pink and purple.
Netjeri felt no hatred, only the sorrow that came with knowing that she was not good enough to be another’s other half.
Never will she be good enough to be something for anyone. Not as a clan member. Not as an exalt. Not as a mate. Not even as a friend.
“Goodbye.” She whispered, and with a last glance at her loyal friend, she took off.
She did not look back. Nascent did not see her go. The distance between them deepened and widened, until their paths were so far apart, they could not see one another if they looked back, even if they wanted to.
And so was the end of a long friendship.
It had to have been from hatchlings; the grown knew better to make a sound in the Strand, because attention meant certain death. To her left limped Stardust, his normally vivid lights a dim glow, his dark blue eyes filled with pain. But he was alive, so she kept moving. Moving, past the limp bodies and the writhing ones, the ones that fought and the ones that laid still. She tore her way through the clearing, and it had to be okay, everything was okay, because she’d taken precautions. She’d made sure they’d be hidden, even if the colony was found. She’d made sure they’d be safe, and protected, and —
Her claws tore through the circle of brambles, and there was nothing there. There was nothing there, and she couldn’t breathe, and she couldn’t breathe, and she couldn’t breathe.
“Hey!” Stardust stumbled after her, eyes determined despite the obvious pain. “Please, slow down. Take it easy—“
“Where are they?” she whispered.
“Haven—
“Where ARE THEY?” she screamed, and the rest of the colony looked at her, and no, it was all wrong, why were they looking at her with pity? It wasn’t because of her broken wings, those would heal in a matter of days. It wasn’t because of her, so why were they looking at her, with eyes of loss and sorrow?”
“Haven,” Stardust gently pried her claws from a tendril of thorns before she could ruin them. “We were caught off guard. The ones higher up survived — they never got that far. But the nests on the ground—"
“No.”
“They were Imperials. The nests on the ground never stood a chance,” Reverie whispered from above, her forelimbs at an awkward angle. “They’re gone. All of them.”
“No, you’re lying,” and her voice was desperate. Hysterical. “You’re lying! You’re all lying!”
“Haven—“
“Five days!” she spun towards Reverie, anguish in her voice. “They were going to hatch in five days, they were protected, they were safe, and—“ she stumbled over her words, and her body followed her collapse to the ground in an almost liquid movement. “They were going to hatch soon,” she whispered, eyes unseeing at the broken shards of magenta before her. “They were going to hatch soon.”
Stardust said nothing. He simply wrapped a wing around her as she sank down to the ground, spiritless. Her children had been her hope, had been her wishes, had been her dream.
She should’ve expected to lose them. After all, a Guide's dream never comes true.
Netjeri wrote:
But as much as she hated it, Netjeri was built to survive. Eventually she shook off the darkness and found something to eat. Medicine, she found for the wounds she'd given herself. After she had regained her vigour, she approached the mouth of her lair and looked back at the darkened cave. She could see the draperies she’d woven and the furniture Nascent had made. She remembered how she'd first woken up in this lair, and recalled the good times she'd had. She imagined a warm fire burning in the ashy hearth. A small smile came to her.
“You have been my home.” She said. “But now I must go.”
Spreading her wings, she caught a gentle breeze and drifted off the cliff of which hid her old lair. Like a bolt of black lightning she plummeted down, pulling up at the last second and whisking up a refreshing sea spray. Her wings took her around a rocky bend and sent her soaring over the sea. As she circled a rocky bit of coral, she heard a laugh and from the shadows of the cliff, she saw them. The members of Nascent's new clan. They sat around a fire on the beach, piles of oysters and fish at their feet. Nascent was with them, beside him a beautiful dragoness whose scales shimmered in shades of pink and purple.
Netjeri felt no hatred, only the sorrow that came with knowing that she was not good enough to be another’s other half.
Never will she be good enough to be something for anyone. Not as a clan member. Not as an exalt. Not as a mate. Not even as a friend.
“Goodbye.” She whispered, and with a last glance at her loyal friend, she took off.
She did not look back. Nascent did not see her go. The distance between them deepened and widened, until their paths were so far apart, they could not see one another if they looked back, even if they wanted to.
And so was the end of a long friendship.
If you want to find the Aequitas Clan, you're in a bit of a sore spot. The clan may or may not exist in a place that may or may not not exist, and by that, I mean the Runic Mountain Range.
See, anyone who's gone looking for this Range hasn't found it. And anyone who's found it wasn't looking for it. Not to mention, anyone who's rumoured to have found it, couldn't have found it, because, well, how're you to prove that you did find it if you never came back in the first place?
In any case, most Arcanites would agree that the Range existed. But if you knew about it, you wouldn't wound up there unless you had a death wish to not end up there. Basically, if you wanted to go there, you wouldn't be able to find it. And if that was the last place you wanted to go... well, hello there!
Hello, there! Welcome to the Runic Mountain Range, where you're now trapped and so are we! If you're thinking about escape, don't! Because anyone who's escaped wasn't looking to escape, and anyone who wants to escape, can't escape! This place is enchanted by a magical spell called the Droste Maze. The moment you find an exit, it's also an entrance! If you run towards the horizon, you'll find yourself running in circles. And if you fly up, at some point you'll be magically flipped over and find yourself hurtling towards the ground.
There's only one clan of dragons that can help you here. But the problem is, they might help you, if they're interested, and more likely, they might not. They're not particularly interested in your survival. To be honest, they might benefit more from your funeral. But when you're stuck in a hostile mountain range and your only beacon of hope is a clan of dragons with breathtaking mental issues... well, you might actually be better off alone.
Rooswoonoodles are the quiet, shy type, in contrast to their Spiral breed. They dislike noise and attention unless it is somehow involved with their research. What Spiral traits they have is channeled completely into their experiments. A Rooswoonoodle will relentlessly pursue knowledge until the point of passing out, then wake up and get right back into it. It is advised to stay away from one of those noodles when they’re in their “I’LL SHOW THEM RESEARCH” modes. Unless you have a rock. Then you’re required to knock them out and drag them back to their dorms.
Having been Shadetouched, Rooswoonoodles are capable of wielding great magic, but such dark magic is a drain on their reserves and normally causes them to pass out after a single spell. This doesn’t mean that Rooswoonoodles are fragile, though. They’re still very Spiral. Which means, yes, they can strangle you with their bodies. Not that that’s happened yet (and here we will read “happened” as “been reported”), but still, we’d like to prevent future casualties.
They’re not born. They don’t hatch from eggs. Chalices are simply there. They wake up with no memories and no feelings, a blank slate with but one desire: to find their purpose. Because of this, the moment a Chalice starts feeling, it is considered their “birth”.
Chalices have no souls of their own, giving them a very monotone personality somewhat akin to that of a newborn Nocturne’s. They can learn to interact with their surroundings by watching and imitating other dragons, but there is no feeling or purpose prompting them to do so. As a side effect of not having souls, Chalices also cannot wield magic. Instead, they absorb energy from the environment and of course, from the souls of others. The runes on their bodies will reflect their physical wellbeing.
You know your Chalice is sick when their runes become a dull gray and they start looking transparent. The advised remedy is to let them feed on the souls of your enemies. And no, while it may seem like a great idea to sacrifice your own soul for the benefit of the pitiful patient, please do not feed them your soul. You can’t get it back.
This is likely not all of the dragons I've ever written lore for.
... I regret not keeping track of all of them.
If I've written lore for your dragons, and they're not on this list, please kindly let me know. I could dig through my forum history to find out everyone I've ever done a bio/poem/story for, but I'd rather not.
Past Commissions
This is likely not all of the dragons I've ever written lore for.
... I regret not keeping track of all of them.
If I've written lore for your dragons, and they're not on this list, please kindly let me know. I
could dig through my forum history to find out everyone I've ever done a bio/poem/story for, but I'd rather not.
