Examples, Rules, and Pricing
Examples
My background is in classical music, but within this background I can offer a wide variety of styles to suit what you’d like to commission. The following examples should give some idea of what I offer. If you have more questions about styles or instruments you'd like to hear, just ask!

Rational Paranoia
This is a short piece written to serve as the theme to one of my dragons, Dixovu. His lore states that he’s constantly being stalked by the feeling of someone watching him.

Fanfare
I wrote this to serve as part of the ceremonial music for my clan. It’s an upbeat celebration of a dragon’s “graduation” into the clan guard.

Memories of the Hall
This is a part of my own lair theme, which is a work in progress. It's a calm section meant to evoke the central area's restored ruins.
The Process
After you post, I confirm your order and its price, put you down in your slot, and ask for clarification or details if necessary. Then I start working on the basic concept for your piece. This stage may take anywhere from a day to a week or two, but probably not any longer than that. If it has been longer, check the first post for a status update.
Once I’ve gotten the basic idea and made sure it’s something I can work with for your piece, I will PM you the concept - a snippet of melody, a motif, an idea of its form. This is like an artist showing you a sketch. We talk it over if necessary and refine the idea together to a point where you’re happy with it.
At this point, you send me half your payment, which will stay in my inbox as I finish your music.
The process of actually finishing the composition will take a longer time if the idea, the instrumentation, or the length is more complicated or in a new style for me.
Please be patient. If more than two weeks have gone by without word on my end, though, feel free to ask for updates.
Once I am finished, I will message you with a SoundCloud link and request that you send the other half of your payment. At this stage I can make a few minor edits if you'd like, but if you're happy with the piece, then our transaction is complete!
If you would like your composition in another format, my program supports a number of options, including mp3, midi, xml, wav, .flac, and .ogg, and I can also export the sheet music as a pdf, png, or in .mscx.
The Composition Menu
Duration - how long do you want your piece to be?
Short Piece: 100k
These pieces will be ~20 seconds - 1 minute long.
Mid-length Piece: 200k
These pieces will be ~1-2 minutes long. I prefer working in this range.
Long piece: 600k
These pieces will be ~3-5 minutes long.
Full-on Tone Poem: bribe me
5+ minutes. These pieces take a very long time to write.
Lengths are approximate - please let me know if your piece has to be of a specific duration.
Instrumentation - what sorts of sounds do you want on your piece?
Option 1: Piano +/- 1 other instrument - no additional charge
This is a sort of chamber piece. It works well for most dragon themes. Harp, organ, etc. can be substituted for piano easily.
Option 2: 3-5 instruments - 150k additional charge
These sorts of ensembles are nice for stories or Coliseum themes.
Option 3: 6-9 instruments (chamber orchestra size) - 400k additional charge
Option 4: 10+ instruments (symphony orchestra size) - 800k additional charge
This option throws in all the bells and whistles. Literally. Orchestration is a long and difficult process, so please expect a longer composition time in addition to the higher price.
Option 5: leave it up to me! I'll consult with you while I'm writing. Final charge will be determined by the demands of the final piece.
Extras
Multiple pieces - ask
If you’re interested in multiple pieces of music - say, a lair theme and two dragon themes for your progenitors - and you’d like them interwoven in some way, then I’d be happy to work on that! Just let me know up front so I can begin planning with that in mind.
According to this menu, the first example ("Rational Paranoia") would cost 100k, and the second and third ("Fanfare" and "Memories of the Hall") would cost 350k.
