@Skanti
Yeah, I figured that out. I had to shrink my browser in order to make the entire Coli fit. Otherwise when I had it at regular size, the page would pop back up to the top after every battle. When it's smaller, it fits and the page doesn't move.
The downside to that is, now I can't make out the critters in the camping box thing. They all look the same.
So, either I keep my browser at normal size and endure moving my page down after every single battle.
Or I keep it smaller and risk choosing the wrong camping box critter and get locked out of the coli. :(
I can't win either way. I hope there will be an option to choose which version of the coli we want to use. :(

My only gripe is that you have to wait for a dragon's turn to fully complete before you can click the buttons for the next dragon. It's so much slower, and it's bothering me quite a bit. My muscle memory is trying to kick in way before I get to actually click anything.

This right here is bothering the crap out of me while playing, if anything it makes it feel a lot slower and bogged down, it also causes the annoying thing of highlighting my whole screen because it keeps thinking I'm double clicking.
Also unrelated I wish there was a way to just turn off attack animations, I don't want to turn off the monster movements or my dragons floating I just don't want to see the jumping back and forth and the little attack visuals. It feels like it slows everything down turning off all the visuals except the little claw marks or contuse puffs fading in and out too.
Also Also, as others seem to have stated that refresh thing every time I win is super annoying.

The decision to add page refreshes to the Coliseum was done 100% for performance and stability reasons for players that were having issues loading the feature fully. End of story. Loading the whole application was causing very real problems for many players with lower-end machines, and our optimization of the feature needed to encompass helping those players.

@Xhaztol
No shade, but can you explain a bit more how the constant page refreshes help people with lower-end machines and/or slow internet connections? I'm no expert but it just seems that at best it's a lateral move. If I have a slow connection, having to reload any webpage that frequently would just be more frequent frustration for me. Whereas in legacy coli, once it loads, that's it. It's loaded and I can play. Getting there may take a while, but I don't have to hold my breath after each battle wondering when/if I can continue playing.
Like I said, I may have an incorrect understanding of how these things work though, so I'd love to know more.

Oh wow!!
Coli is now no longer unplayably laggy on this dinosaur of a laptop!!
I cant wait to try it on the one at home when I get back to it.
Im impressed! The clicking of attacks seems a little slower as was mentioned before but everything else feels so crisp and well done and I have no complaints!
The dragon party selection is also well done and so much less obnoxious to sift through.
Thank you for getting this up and going! It was well worth the wait!

Dang, that screen and the icons are already too tiny even at regular zoom, I can't imagine how it would look zoomed out even more. D:

Battles seems pretty smooth but I gotta say...the page refreshing got really old, really fast. To the point where honestly, I will never go into the coliseum again if I'm going to have to scroll back down after every. Single. Battle. Just to get back to the controls. Yes, I know I could zoom out so everything fits on my screen at once without scrolling, but then I lose the visual aspect and that's my favorite part. Now maybe once the keyboard controls are working and I won't have to look at which buttons I'm pushing, it won't matter...except that the bottom half of the coli is still cut off because the page got scrolled up and, like I said, I enjoy the visuals.
I understand the reason this was added but I really hope a more streamlined method will be worked out before this comes out of beta. Like, some way to snap the page down where the coli's automatically in position on the screen or something. I dunno how these things work. Or, as I've seen other people suggest, maybe do a single load for an entire venue. I could crank out dozens of battles a minute in the old coli and now I get frustrated after three or four, and the extra motion to keep dragging the coli back into view is extra wrist strain.
ETA: After getting over my initial frustration, I tried again and...yup, still no go for me. I tried the fullscreen view a few times and sorry to say, but the graphics quality is terrible.
I also agree with people who said the delay in a dragon taking its move and the next dragon being able to attack is really long, especially compared to how rapid it was in the old coli.
And lastly, here's yet another vote for making the captcha bigger, or better differentiation between background and sprites, or SOMETHING. I have bad vision that's mostly corrected with lenses but I had a hard time with the captcha I got. It would be nice to have an option to skip that (and thus skip the bonus) if you have trouble seeing it.
Final review of battle: The animations are smoother, graphics are cleaner at normal sizing, and I think the weird 'first dragon doesn't actually get a turn' thing is fixed, but I am not impressed by the rest of it. It has lost a lot of functionality for me and this is not a good thing for something that's a major part of the site. I'm glad the coli is finally getting some much-overdue attention but I feel like this attempt really missed the mark.
