The first Yoki (pronounced Yolk-ie) was birthed from the great mind of Cleopatra the Alchemist, but her notes of these extraordinary creatures were long since gone. Gone until now.
Yoki are believed to have been created in the 3rd century AD in Alexandria. They have been noted to be great and durable pets, which are great for alchemists. Not much is known about the liquids in their bodies, but most alchemists refer to it as "Mercurius vitae" or "Mercury life". It has been noted that without the liquid in their bodies, Yoki cannot live or reproduce.
Yoki are attributed to the element Water and different elements bring different results. Using Mercury has been noted to bring out more common traits, wheras liquid gold bring out the more rare traits. These traits have four groups; common, uncommon, rare, and legendary. The rarer Yoki are more commonly seen with more skilled alchemists, especially those who have mastered the Philosopher's stone. Since very few have mastered the Philosopher's stone, these traits are seen as legendary by most.
Yoki are quadrupedal creatures with see through glass legs that round off into nubs, ears, and stomachs. Yoki have been seen with many different shapes and patterns along with a wide variety of triat combos. The range of size of a Yoki is very broad, the smallest being the size of a cat and the largest being that of a medium-large dog. The weight of a Yoki has been in the range 9.9lbs - 35lbs. They have been recorded with the behavior of a dog (playful and caring), but are mostly independant like a cat. They have also been noted as very patient and lazy creatures, being known to sleep up to 19 hours a day. They are very silent beings, but have been heard to make chirps, purrs, whines, and snarls. They will puff up their neck fur when threatened and snarl to appear bigger. They will lie at the feet of their alchemist and will guard their owner's possessions when they are away, making them the perfect companions.
Yoki reproduce through chemical reactions that occur within the female. The females and males contain certain chemicals that when mixed solidify into a perfectly circular egg which then hatch into a new Yoki. Most see it as easier to make a Yoki because there is always a chance for an uncontrolled chemical reaction that can either hurt or kill the mother Yoki. If the egg is successfully made and hatched, the newborn Dropling (young Yoki) will be about the size of a quarter and weigh approximately 6.1 grams. The Droplings will grow to their regular adult height in a matter of 6 weeks (2 months). Yoki live up to 120 years if treated well.
Yoki diets include various berries and fruits. They are able to eat any fruit and their favorites are based on color. Yoki names are very very simple and are limited to four letter words. Some examples are Sar (the Yoki on the banner + my Yoki), Lo, Mi, Maar, Bio, Via, Bo, and Nom
