Jupiter is a dragon blessed by the stars. He is an astronomer, a child of the Earthshaker strangely obsessed with the night sky rather than the ground beneath his talons.
Before stars graced his scales, Jupiter spent every night admiring and charting the stars. He studied the planets, their moons, the other galaxies and constellations that spangled Sornieth's midnight sky. He wished that somehow he could be up there, studying the celestial bodies in person rather than from down below. It was as if he was unsatisfied with his very element -- he was a dragon meant to love the earth who instead yearned for the heavens.
One night, a strange and beautiful meteor shower graced the skies of Sornieth. As Jupiter raced to admire them from the best spot in the Flamecaller's domain, where he currently lived, stardust rained down from the shower to bless Jupiter's scales.
It seems that the elemental deities in some way granted Jupiter's lifelong wish. The stars he admired became one with his own being. And now, many of his offspring are fashioned from stardust. When they hatch from eggs made from magic and stardust, their scales commonly glitter with the stars as Jupiter's now do.
Jupiter is still an avid astronomer, but now he studies them from up above rather than below. Jupiter stands beneath the reigning deities as a lesser god, and governs over a small kingdom of dragons. He will offer protection and refuge to any dragon who is noble of heart. While many of those dragons call him their king, Jupiter does not refer to himself as any title, as he humbly remembers how the greater gods blessed him and granted him his power.
His children are living, pure embodiments of the stars and their fiery cores. Once his descendants come of age, they may often return to serve on his royal court as ambassadors to their clans. Many take up occupations within Jupiter's palace of the sky.
