For four years this royal wildclaw resided on his throne within the Heartlands with as much wealth and power as any dragon could dream of. But one day, he found he had begun to feel weary. Having everything you could ever want and a whole host of dragons at his beck and call had not only began to feel tiring but also.. slightly immoral?
He dwelled on these feelings day after day, pacing back and forth in his gilded rooms. At night he could barely sleep, tossing and turning until the early hours. Overcome not only with a sense of restlessness but also agitation; he felt trapped. A wolf caught in a golden bear trap. The only thing that soothed him was the thought of being someone else, living a life he had never had.
Then one day he could not take it any longer. In the dead of night he bolted out of bed and threw open his wardrobe. He pulled out his finest cloaks, breeches and boots and cut them up, reshaping them until they were barely recognizable. By midnight he was finished and without a second thought he threw on his new disguise and stole out of the castle, passing himself off as just another servant.
No one noticed him, clad in rags and scales dulled with dust and mud as he traipsed up the road amid the mules and carts.
And when he was finally free, his kingdom just a pinprick in the distance, he breathed a sigh of relief, turned around and never looked back.

His freedom was a relief, a breath of fresh air as he dipped his wings into both cloud and sea on his adventure, an explorer born anew. With no kingdom in sight behind him, he felt the weight of an immoral royalty melt away, screeching his cheers into the empty scenery around him. Nobody could stop him, he was free from his duties, this was more luxurious than having everything you ever wanted!
But he knew he had no idea how to live a normal life. Everything he ever wanted was before him, and now it was but a fleeting memory. How could he survive on his own? He thought.. but that was before noticing the glimmer of arcane crystals in the distance.
Flying closer, his eyes settled on an island in the middle of the wide ocean, small and isolated, but also bustling with life. His claws dug into the mountain side as he landed, eventually trekking down into the valley... and face to face with an imposing guardian dragon. Yet, her light eyes rang a feeling of peace, and that was when he knew...
This was the new life he wanted. This was his home now.
Amongst his new life, he learned so much from the inhabitants of the valley, and grew to appreciate fending for himself. Gifted with a gilded compass from the dragoness of light, he can find home no matter where he flies. Aspects of it felt familiar to him.. until he realized it was his crown, now forever made useful by the valley inhabitants.
