Chel merely waits as Abbadon hurriedly tends to the Pearlcatcher's wounds, listening not to the repeated thanks and promises spewed from the Pearlcatcher's mouth, but to the aura of absolute menace that emanates from his being.
A few days later, he confesses he was once the leader of a driven cult that collapsed and overthrew him, seen him for the wretched liar he is. He mentions how she wishes to rule, sensing a "fellow entrepreneur" as he put it, holding out his claws in a handshake of offered help, reiterating his promises. Chel takes it and he smiles, but it doesn't reach his blindfolded eyes. She knows the moment her back is turned he'll stab it, but is ready to put him down once his helpfulness has ran out.
