Biography

DEEPDIVER

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Deepdiver! I'm called Deepdiver because I thoroughly enjoy diving deep to find the pearls I hold so dear. As everyone knows, only the largest of pearls are discovered at the deepest depths of the sea. The reason for that is due to the well-known fact that, at those depths, pearl-producing clams are left quite undisturbed and able to grow to enormous sizes therefore producing the very largest and rarest of pearls.

My favorite place to dive is Leviathan Trench! It's a place of rare beauty and intrigue. It is known as the deepest part of the world. Therein lies its attraction to me and others like me. In my collection of precious pearls, reside the rarest beauties ever discovered by Dragonkind! I have in my collection pearls of every known color. Their sheen is unsurpassed! As you can undoubtedly tell, I am very proud of my pearls! One might call me a pearl-hoarder...hmmm...unattractive description, I must say, but more-than-likely true. (Who am I kidding...it is true...I admit it!)

Now, back to my favorite diving spot...I shall recant for you my fondest diving adventure. It was a hot Midsummer's day. I was looking forward with great anticipation to this particular dive. Such anticipation was indeed warranted because, in a prior dive, I'd encountered the most enormous pearl-producing clam I'd ever witnessed in the vastness of the sea! I knew I had to wait for the complete maturation of the pearl contained therein. Waiting for me was the hardest thing I ever had to do. So, on that particular day, I was giddy with glee at the prospect of diving all the way down to where it was and catching it!

So began my journey to the deepest depths of the trench. The waters of Leviathan Trench were murkier than usual. I was virtually blind. The deeper I dove, the harder it was for me to see. I relied heavily on my whiskers for guidance as to which ways to turn and where to go. When all of a sudden something very large and menacing brushed up against my left thigh and my left wing. As quickly as it had come it was gone, but not permanently. This time it came up underneath me striking me squarely in my abdominals...hitting my solar plexus with such force I almost lost consciousness! I swam away at breakneck speeds zig-zagging, undulating, and trying to be as random in my movements as possible while being very careful not to careen into one of the many obstacles that presented themselves as I traversed the trench.

Eventually, I ended up where I'd remembered the giant clam resided. Considering my present state of mind, extremely hypervigilant, I worked as quickly as I could to free the precious pearl. My persistence paid off! The pearl I found was the largest, rarest one yet...I could feel it! Wasting no time, and still in a state of hypervigilance, I cautiously made my way towards the surface. Just as i thought I was home free, I felt yet another creature, much larger than the other one bombard my tail, hitting it with great force and coming around repeatedly trying to offset my balance and send me careening headlong into the trench wall! I swam with unwavering speed and determination until my form, clutching my prize, flew skyward and out of harm's way! All the way home, I gazed endearingly at my breathtakingly beautiful pearl and was thankful that my treasure-seeking hadn’t cost me my life! Whew!
