♠ guardian deity

He was a different sort of dragon than the others. In truth, he wasn’t really a dragon at all; he only looked like one. There were very specific rules of nature that applied to gargoyles such as himself.
For one, he fed on a steady diet of blood and light. For his continued survival, he was required to consume blood some time between sundown and midnight each day. If he failed to do so, he was required to be in a place exposed to direct moonlight by midnight. Otherwise, he would return to stone.

Iglaak did not like returning to his stone form. It was quite painful for him to do so, and when it happened, the only way he could return to a living form was to be placed in harsh sunlight for three days without interruption. If there were any traces of clouds, or if it was during a season where the sun was cooler, he could be trapped in his stone form for months, waiting.

If too much time spent with him trapped within his stone form, his soul would be lost, and he would be unable to return to life at all. Thus, It was important for him to consume blood on a daily basis.

And yet, it wasn’t enough for him to have blood alone. The thing about gargoyles was that if he didn’t also get a steady diet of sunlight, his leathery skin would begin to decay, his scales would harden and he would gradually lose movement and turn to stone whether or not he had fed on blood regularly. It was a perilous existence.

It was for this reason that Iglaak had chosen to become a warrior, to protect his clanmates in battle, and in life in general. When he fought at Set’s side he was able to use his healing magics to their full potential, and being around the carnage of battle, he was able to feed as much as he needed to. When it came to protecting those he cared for, he was utterly ruthless and without sympathy.
