The Wraithworld Clan Lore

Many years ago, a new clan formed in the Shadowlands, The Wraithworld Clan first made its home in a den-like hollow of the Driftwood Drag delta. Eventually, after much soul-searching and furious debating of the adult members of the clan at the time, it was determined to move the entire clan to a newer, less murky den on the Sundial Terrace and thus switch allegiances to the Light Flight. Shortly thereafter they expanded their lair and were given a space upon the Mirrorlight Promenade. Currently they are stretching their collective wings in a spacious den in the Beacon of the Radient Eye, with enough shadows to ease the eyes of the more sensitive among them and enough sunlight to appease the rest.

The first matriarch of the Wraithworld Clan was Madripoor, a Guardian dragon, and her chief consort was Trauma, a Mirror dragon. They were friends for many years, and then decided to begin a clan together. It seemed the thing to do, somehow.

The pair of them turned into quite the hoarders; collecting hatchlings abandoned and unwanted, as well as fostering high-maintenance ones when needed. Random adult dragons join their ranks from time to time as well, finding the Wraithworld Clan welcoming and accepting of all who have a need of a family.

The Wraithworld Clan is part of the Saving Ways, a loose and secretive network of clans that are opposed to sending hatchlings to be exalted. As a highly personal choice and calling, one that should be between the individual dragon and their deity, the Saving Ways believe that hatchlings should be raised to adulthood, and be allowed to choose for themselves if they feel called to serve or not.

If the choice to go and serve is made, a ceremony called The Parting is enjoined, where each dragon in the clan says their farewells to the Exalted, while they are still around to hear the nice things being said about them. Then the dragon leaves, never to return. Some live in service to their deity, some die during the Trials. Whatever their end, the Exalted never come back.

When a dragon comes of age, or as an adult decides to stay with the clan, they go through the Aging Ceremony. This celebrates the beginning of their new life as a full-fledged clan member, and it is at this point that Trauma bestows upon them their title.

He does not take this as seriously as it was intended to be taken, but Madripoor let him have his little jokes, and the rest of the clan appreciate the needed levity.

When Madripoor had her accident and had to step down as Matriarch while she healed and came to terms with her new appearance, Trauma stepped down as well. Genosha and her consort Eos stepped up to lead the clan, and Eos was content to allow Trauma to continue in his role as the Namer in the Aging Ceremony.

Trauma, meanwhile, found a scroll while gathering one day and, despite the warnings of the Clan librarian, decided to read it out loud as soon as he found it; under a full moon on the winter solstice. The results, though dramatic, could have been worse; he's now a Nocturne dragon, though otherwise unchanged. He's glad about it, as his eyes feel better now.
