Hatchling come close, bring me your ears,
Tonight sit close, let me ease your fears.
This is your future, their tale, my story,
This is Clan Voxvine, in all of our glory.

In the jungle dark and deep,
Beneath the roots where nightmares sleep,
There beats the heart of all things wild,
If you can hear it then fear not, Child.
With biting fangs and rending claws,
On the bones of the unwary the jungle gnaws.
Keep your eyes bright and your heart ablaze,
Embrace the jungle and all its ways.
You are a child of shadows, of roads un-tread,
Let each night bring you a different bed.
The wild jungle has taught you to bite,
Be strong as the monsters we fear at night.
From the jungle years your blood flows green,
It’s twisted paths made you strong and lean.
But the horizon whispers, beckons, calls,
You must find a place outside these walls.

Silver sands line the wave-swept shore,
Your dreams say you’ve been here before.
Beneath the water the sun fades away,
The shadows call for you to come play.
Dive deeper they say, come find us below,
We wait in the trench, were the leviathans glow.
Make your home in the stars that hide from the sky,
Trust what you feel, not what you see with the eye.
In the water here they speak a strange tongue,
One different from how the songs of the forest were sung.
But here you listen, and learn from the seas,
Until you flow with the currents, floating with ease.

Long summers pass by with bright suns and blue skies,
You’ve found your companions and strengthened your ties.
From the shore to the land you warm in the dawn
Though you know even here you must always move on.
You stay for a while in this place of sunbeams and light,
And revel in the storms that gather at night.
You feel the heat in the air and taste the rain on your tongue,
In the lightning you hear songs past storms have sung.
Be clever and kind in this place steeped in thunder,
Let it remain in your heart so you remember its wonder.

You move on to where desert meets mountains,
Where burnt peaks are tamed, and fires make fountains.
Deep in the forges you can’t hear the trees,
So you don’t linger long, and seek out the breeze.
High in the steppes the flames disappear,
Sweet-scented winds urge you to stay here.
The meadows are calm, the company kind,
Like kites you fly high and leave your troubles behind,
But in the distance you feel the long winter’s cold,
And remember you learn nothing if you are not bold.
Your feet fell the itch, the familiar call,
And you find yourself unable to stay here at all.

In the bitter white snowbanks and fields full of ice,
You learn once again the thrill of rolling the dice.
To seek shelter or brave it is the choice you must make,
Each life in your clan is what is at stake.
But each has been tested, and each has passed,
Each has been built by the elements to last.
Through the whiteout you tread as bitter winds tear,
Your breath forming ice in the storm-thickened air.
You remember the jungle, its warmth and its steam,
But this far away it feels much like a dream.
When the storm dies away, all that’s left is cold faces,
But towards the horizon each clan-mate races.
Maw’s grinning and wild, cheeks pinkened with frost,
You know once and for all you will never be lost.

Here you find forests, strange and pink-sapped,
Beneath their shade mages of old once napped.
Magic is strong here, but different in taste
You can’t seem to find why, a memory misplaced.
The land dances and shimmers in the light of the stars,
Magic nibbles your hide, healing old scars.
Temptation pulls your gaze up to the beyond,
As the night grows you feel the familiar bond.
The shadows shimmer as the night deepens,
Under the moon’s glow, that constant bright beacon.
The night is alive, it pulses, it whispers,
It casts silhouettes that waltz with their sisters.

The night passes fast, and dawn finds a new land,
One carved of stone, made to withstand.
This place’s magic is old, it resonates deep,
Like new vines, into your veins it easily seeps.
The ground shudders, it shakes,
Take to the air while the earth below quakes.
Stone against stone it bellows a dare,
Coaxing you down out of the air.
You fight hard with your sisters and brothers,
In the heat of battle you find strength with the others,
Together you band brave to drive back your foe,
You fight till the shaking at last starts to slow.
When the dust settles and you are all that remains,
Give thanks to the shadows, your life they sustain.

The last place you visit pulls tight at your chest,
Your throat burns and eyes water, a challenging test.
This place of detachment, of disease and decay-
Make sure you are wary or you’ll be the prey.
Fight here, not flight, there is no relaxing,
You must not stumble or mistrust your reacting.
This place feels so close, yet so far away,
Its shadows are different with the games that they play.
Your clan gathers close, you move in a pack,
All you have learned helps you erase any tracks.
Teeth flash, flesh knots and bone glistens,
Every heartbeat, each step, you are quiet and listen.
Time has passed slowly, but you feel close to home,
Weary feet yearn to sink deep in rich loam.

Last steps, you can taste it, hear it and feel it,
The jungle calls out, and to the trees you submit.
The shadows rejoice, praising your name,
Your clan seeks the heartwood, there are roots to reclaim.
Travel weary and worn, you lay down to rest,
But it won’t be long before you feel that beat in your chest.
The familiar call, the song of wanderlust,
You have learned by now to give it your trust.

Dear Hatchling, you’ve listened all the way through,
You know in your heart all I’ve said is true.
Never forget this jungle, never forget your home,
But it is always our curse, our blessing, to roam.
