Clan Info
The weak blue light of the hour before dawn filled the clearing where the stone stood. It was smooth, and flat, and nearly black in the dim under the deep blue sky. As dawn drew nearer, dragons began to slip from between the spindly red-barked pines into the clearing. Some were large, others small, some were slender, and some were stout. All watched the stone with anticipation.
The eldest, Calia, a guardian the color of forget-me-nots, or an overcast sky, held back a group of dragonets who craned their necks to peer curiously at the stone.
"We never cast our shadows on the stone." Calia said, "It may interfere with the magic."
"So if we shadow the stone the Dreamwalker won't come?" One of the dragonets piped up.
Calia nodded sagely, "It is very delicate" She said.
A hushed silence fell over the clearing as the dragons held their vigil. The dragonets, now pacified, whispered excitedly under Calia's watchful eye. The older dragons gathered in groups of two or three and held hushed conversations while sneaking the occasional glance towards the center of the clearing.
"Face it, she isn't coming." Rumbled a big dark male.
"Not coming?" Peeped one of the dragonets.
"I know you don't have faith, Iara, but the stars are in the correct position. She's coming." Calia soothed.
"It's starting. I see a shadow." another voice called out. Calia swung her head towards the stone as did every dragon in the clearing. "I don't see anything." Iara grumbled. "Orion has sharper eyes than you," shot Calia. "It's clearly there," said Orion, gesturing with excitement, "A shadow, right next to the middle."
As the sun began to climb the unseen horizon, the shadow became clearer, and even Iara was forced to admit that something was happening. Every pair of eyes in the clearing focused on the slab as the shadow began to take shape. Then, suddenly, she was there, standing atop her shadow-- the Dreamwalker.
