clan lore down here- wip! very long!

The echoing shriek of Luminax on the horizon breaks the dawn. Among the crags and ruin drawn from the earth, the heads of dozens of dragon pop up from their nests. A great beam of fire shot from one of the emperor’s heads and split the still-dim sky.
.
Pack of the Perpetual Light

Although they now find their home in the brilliance of the Lightweaver’s domain, this clan was originally founded by a small group of nomadic Plague dragons. The call of such an immense and powerful force of havoc was swift to draw their focus, though; their nature as Plague dragons ensured that. What is an emperor but the truest mutation of death itself, after all? And what is a Plague dragon if not willing to test the waters!
Despite their unsettling presence, many outcast Light locals found an uncanny comfort with the Pack. Their knowledge of the region’s history and, more notably, of emperors saw to them being welcome with open claws. Scrolls and tomes were not the only thing they shared among their newfound ilk, though, and soon the natural superstitions and rituals of Light dragons were mutated by the ideals of the Pack.
The strongest survive. Even after death. The raw magical power harnessed by Luminax is more than a sight to behold to the Pack- they are the ultimate form, an idol to study and to worship. To revere. A force so powerful it could draw the deities themselves from their slumber. The Pack sees Luminax as an end goal for dragonkind, something beyond what their founders Kessel and Favnir accomplished in the Wyrmwound.
Pack-bonding is a very strong thing, but it is not mutually inclusive with getting along. Like many plague-descending dragons, even minor disagreements are settled in spars; with the victor writing history. Those who come out on top earn the respect (and fear) of their clanmates, and those who don’t are simply a weak link…if they survived at all. The Pack is constantly vying to become better, stronger, bigger. They are not opposed to outside blood and in fact frequently chew through newcomers in attempts to single out the strongest dragons for new nests. Those who don’t quite make the cut are either sent to serve the Lightweaver or sent to be served to Luminax.
Those who don’t ceaselessly test their might against their clanmates and the wild magical fallout of Luminax’s rampage bury themselves in scrolls hurriedly scrawled with warnings of the beast on their horizon. Hiding between pages etched with fear are more sinister documents, though, detailing dark rituals and shadowed superstitions from Light historians long past. Dedication to these rituals is a sign of dedication to the values of the Pack, and thus loyalty to your clanmates. Yet many of these traditions are kept hushed from the majority, their details too grim for most to stomach. This pervasive fascination with the eldritch limits of dragonkind seeps through the Pack, intertwined with the very roots of their rotting family tree.

Onille:
“…”
“Hey. You’re not one of us. Why are you here?”
“I see. I recommend you make your leave before you…catch someone’s eye. There’s more to the Pack than they’ll let you know.”

A growing group of dragons stirs within the Pack. Born (or bought) into the clan, they see the way violence and delusion grip their fellow clanmates. They see the chaos lurking in Sorneith as a result of dragonkind straying from a civilized path and the Pack’s ideology as a direct facet of this corruption. This hesitancy to adhere to the Pack’s principles has largely landed them on the lower end of the peking order, though, and starting a scrap could be fatal. Thus ideas and sentiments must be hissed in quiet undertones, in passing through shadowed corridors, on the off chance some dragon may overhear and ‘politely disagree.’
Distance from the Pack’s teachings goes beyond their aggressive nature, however. The very core of the Pack’s philosophy is rattled in their eyes. To these dragons Luminax is not a godly example of draconic potential, but a representation of the death throes of magic in Sorneith. It is one big wail of grief as the deities go silent and the world beneath their claws is upheaved. Those with more understanding of the (literal) skeletons in the Lightweaver’s closet also hold a pang of sorrow for Luminax. Comprehending what it truly means to become an emperor is an immense weight to carry, especially as your clanmates dig further and further into their deluded obsession.
