The Thonis Atoll
On your voyage to the Spiral Keep, you might find yourself crossing a part of the ocean that Maren clans call the "Singing Waters". You will see little islands and the corals of Fishspine Reef below the ocean's surface. Eventually, you may spot an atoll composed of three islands appear on the horizon. You may see the port town and the stilt houses and decide to rest your tired wings. In that case: Welcome to the Thonis Atoll.

A small Fae welcomes you as you enter the port city. He introduces himself as Conchiferius and offers to show you around. When you accept, he shows you the bustling harbour, the inns and taverns waiting for travellers and the lake town built from stilt houses. He offers you to stay for a while, as this clan has made it its duty to provide rest to tired voyagers.

You ask if this is what the clan makes its living with. You feel like you have heard the name Thonis before, but in another context. Conchiferius laughs and points to the ocean surrounding the atoll. Between the corals of the reef, he tells you, lie the ancient ruins of Thonis, a city from the Second Age that the atoll owes its name to. His clan explores those ruins in search of new knowledge about the past, he explains not without pride in his expression. He tells you also of the laboratories on the ocean floor, producing new technologies and selling them across Sornieth. You realise that you probably read the name Thonis on the back of some device you once got your claws on.

You decide that staying for a night won't hurt, and Conchiferius leads you to the best tavern on the atoll.
