Like she and the other Gods and Goddesses do prior to each holiday, Gladekeeper placed many eggs in a nest she created using mud, plants, and sticks. She kept watch from a distance for 66 days, as is done with all starter clans, until the hatchlings pipped. Once they hatched, she introduced herself to them, "I created you, therefore, I am both your 'Mother' and your Goddess." She went on to explain to the hatchlings that all the lands within The Viridian Labyrinth are hers and that one day soon she will take them to their future clans' homes.
She explained that "home" doesn't mean ownership, that if a clan purposely destroys it's "home", that the clan will no longer have a place to live within her lands. Afterwards, she began to nurture them and teach them a great many survival skills that they would need to hone to live within her lands. She showed them how to find foods in many places and told them that there are more lands beyond hers with other foods and materials needed to survive, but that venturing to those places is not easy for most and sometimes can be met with ill fate. She also taught them not to take more than they need; how to give back to the land so that it will continue to sustain them.
Once they were of breeding age, she took them in pairs, placing them in specific subregions within her lands, so that they may build their future clan homes. She would take them high above the homelands and tell them about the area she was giving them to dwell in. Since each subregion is unique, she had to explain about each one several times, so that the pairs would be able to successfully thrive in the world that was before them.
When she got to WindsweptBeauty, Gladekeeper said, "I have chosen DeadLeaf as your mate. You are a headstrong female and most males feel threatened by you. Deadleaf is more secure in letting someone else be in charge, while he flits around watching everything around him. He will serve as your protector and defender, as well as your lifemate." Gladekeeper then asked the pair what name they would like their clan to be known as, since dragons use clan names like the humans use surnames.
Just then an early Autumn Breeze swirled leaves around the pair and they watched the leaves dance and float as they glided in the current until they finally landed softly on the ground. WindsweptBeauty admired the leaves graceful landing and said, "Falling Leaves." Gladekeeper looked very pleased as she announced, "From this day onwards, your clan shall be known as the Falling Leaves clan. The two of you shall be the leaders, until your deaths, when you shall join me. I ask only that you remember me and let those who wish to serve me, come forth freely." With that, Gladekeeper left to make ready the rest of the new couples in preparation for the upcoming holiday.
