wintergreenroses' Clan

You walk into the massive ribcage of the fallen beast that is home to the entirety of the Rotten Roses clan. The bones are decorated with hanging cloths in every color, and everywhere you look some dragon is competing for your attention. There are dragons offering readings of your future, dragons pandering goods, dragons selling The Herd's service for anything and everything, and dragons boasting impressive records for leading pilgrims across the wastes and to the Wyrmwound.

After several hours of walking around and checking out what the clan has to offer, you are walking back to the ribcage, having purchased--for some reason--a sludgy familiar from the resident alchemists who reside at the blackened tail of the skeleton.

You are travelling up the length of the skeleton when you see the tail vertebra have fallen in a way that creates a guarded concave area.

As you approach the small and imperfect semicircle created by the vertebra, you notice that someone has dug out a cave in the dry earth that leads under the skeleton and under the ground at a steep angle.

The smell emanating from the hole is foul. It's a sulfurous smell, like that of rotting eggs, mixed with the scent of festering water. All in all, it smells like what a non-Plague dragon would expect the Plague territory to smell like.

Slowly, four red eyes open, shining from the inside of the hole. Immediately, you think Mirror dragon. As the green dragon steps into the light, though, you can see that she is, in fact, a mutated Guardian.

The smell gets stronger as she emerges, and you can see that she is clearly diseased; her fins are withered and dried like leather and her bones are clearly pronounced in some places. She is covered in cobwebs, and wears only a cloak. You notice a book that's belted to her side that bears the Plague emblem.

Her voice, when she speaks, is raspy, and you can see that her lips have rotted away, leaving exposed and stained teeth.

"Who bothers Lorekeeper Fiona?"

You nervously state your name, and hurriedly apologize for disturbing her.

A low grating sound reaches your ears, and it takes you a moment to realize that it's a laugh.

"Travellers are often the ones who disturb me. Are you here wishing to know more about this place and the dragons that call it home?"

You pause before deciding that since you disturbed her, it would be best to seem like you had a reason to do so. You nod.

"There is a small price to pay for the things you wish to know." Lorekeeper Fiona looks at you expectantly. "A secret in exchange for knowledge."

You sit and think for a moment, trying to find a secret you knew worthy enough for the collective knowledge and history for this clan, but also one that wouldn't cause you ruin.

Eventually, you speak a secret, hoping it wouldn’t come around to haunt you in the future.

Fiona nods and unclasps the book that's belted to her side, handing it to you.

It is a large, heavy book bearing the Plague symbol, as well as runes that spell out "Rotten Roses Clan."

You open the book and begin to read...
